Help

Help needed. The ticket ranges from $30 to $50 to $65. So which one should I get?

I'm not familar with the seating layout at all. Do you guys believe ticket at $30 should be okay?

You can find the seat chart and decide what kind of ticket you need. It depends on the size of the venue. If you're far away, have a binoculars with you.

hope you don't fall asleep being forced to watch the antiques

If you mean Brian and Todd, they were reasonable. No the type of skaters I prefer but very respectable.

Kurk Browning was one of the highlights of the show, couldn't believe his jumps still come that easily. and the steps and general presentation were just amazing.

D/L were a delight addition to the show and I don't think they're very old.

Got my ticket.

Shen&Zhao, Miki Ando, D&D and I&Z are all I'd like to see, maybe Joannie & Buttle as well. Not sure about the other antiques, maybe they will surprise me?

Will Miki reel off a quad Sal?? Too bad, no Mao!! Fortunately, I saw her live before!

Went to see the show. I really enjoyed pairs skating. All four pairs - S&P, S&Z, I&Z and D&D were wonderful. I guess one reason pairs are more exciting in show is because they always do those mind-boggling tricks such as throws, twists, lifts. All four pairs got huge applauses throughout the event.

D/L were also great.

Singles were blah, Miki Ando showed up, but nobody really stood out. Jeffrey Buttle really need to fix her jumps, he popped a 2A. Kurt did 7 or 8 perfect 2A in a rows.
Orser got a standing O since he's retiring. But he was just prancing around like all the other antiques and occasionally did some 2As.

I always heard this myth that Robinson is sooooooo slow. In reality, I don't find her slow at all. She has great flow and even faster than Joannie in one program. Actually there's very little speed difference among those top skaters. In the future, whenever I hear complaints about who, and who is slow, I will take it as a grain of salt.

Overall, it's a good event. All pairs landed their throws & sbs jumps, and most single skaters were able to land jumps with the exception of some antiques popping a couple of 2As. Joannie landed all her jumps!! Hope she can nail jumps in competitions just as in shows!!!

Another disappointment is that most skaters' spins were sub-par, very slow. Buttle was a bit better, but still not as impressive as on TV. Joannie's sit spin was horribly slow.

Skating show to me is still a blah, nothing really exciting. I probaly won't go to see another show unless I really want to see my favourites.

The most boring skater in the show was Todd (??? not sure his full name), he skated two numbers, and just pranced across the rink, and occasionally kicked in a 2A. His spins were absolutely horrible. The music to him was like background noise. Well, he still got some applause, just shows you how nice Canadians are.

Antiques????? Did I miss something? Brian and Todd are not antiques!!! This is Brian Orser's farewell tour and I imagine it will be very special. Brian is one of the best skaters ever to represent Canada and will be missed by all. Todd is always entertaining to watch. Who ever thinks Brian and Todd are antiques knows NOTHING about figure skating! Pure ignorance.

Oh, Ladskater, I couldn't agree with you more! We started attending SOI way back in 1993 because of Brian O. (and our dear Paul Wylie  ) Heck, as much as I like Brian B. (and I do very much), I was pulling for Brian O. to win the Olympics in 1984 and 1988. If we lived anywhere near Canada, and were able to get away this time of the year, we would run to see Brian in this tour. As it is, we are grateful that we got to see several of the USA SOI shows this season. As for Todd, we are thrilled that he's been part of the SOI "family" since 2002. iloveaxel, "horrible spins, background noise?" You've got to be joking! Oh, BTW, do you consider the amazing Kurt Browning to be an antique, too? To each his own, I guess. :frown: :ohwell:

Todd's spins horrible... I find that hard to believe. The reason Todd got applause at the show is because Canadians know great skating when they see it.

Todd's spins "absolutely horrible." That whole phrase leaves me completely speechless.

I agree Nan, she must be talking about another Todd, our Todd is one of the best spinners around. I love Todd E.

Agree,
If he spins horrible he must have had an extremly bad bad day, never seen him spin horrible. I´m not so fond of his skating though but he´s got it all, edges, spins, jumps, and he is funny!, just wish he could put all of that into one number. In the sixties numer he totaly rocks, clearly the best.

Brian O, just look at his edges and the way he moves with/to the music.

No kidding. Todd is an amazing spinner. That's the first thing I noticed about him. Must be someone else she's thinking of.
