I just got back from an ice hockey game (Go Fresno Falcons), and it got me thinking about the up and coming Summer Olympics. What are some of your favorite summer Olympic sports?

I love gymnastics, followed closely by swimming, and then field events such as the relay races. Anyone else? 42

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say I enjoy gymnastics too, as well as diving (there's the artistic side of me again, LOL) and swimming. I also love watching equestrian, especially show jumping.

I love the equestrian events, especially dressage, but alas, like so many other aspects of televising sports in the US, it's rarely shown except for the 30 seconds of an American's performance. IF they medal. Sigh...

Gymnastics and Equestrian events!
Bronxgirl, I agree! I wish they would show more dressage! But I have to say, The first time I ever saw dressage was on the Olympics. I had never seen anything like it before. I swear it was like watching a horse dance in place. A couple years ago I finally got to see The Royal Lipazzaner Stallions. Magnificent!

Gymnastics is definitely what I watch all the time during the Olympics. The US has such strong teams this year (both men and women) that it should definitely be interesting :)

I also enjoy the diving, synchronized swimming, and archery for some odd reason. I like the Olympics in general though and find myself watching the most random things while it's on just because it's the Olympics.

I truly love all the swimming events, including diving. My husband can't tolerate sychnonized swimming, though. That's his "fridge" break while watching the competition on the telly. I read the other day that two Australian gals broke Olympic records I think in the freestyle events.......can't wait...42

The equestrian events are first on my list: cross-country, dressage and stadium jumping. Then comes gymnastics, track and field, and swimming. I guess that means I'll be spending a LOT of time in front of the tv.

Well, I love swimming, but since the greatest hopes for a Gold for my country will be in hockey (girls) basket (men) Soccer (also men) and tennis (men and maybe womens too), I'll we a huge fan of those sports next summer (my winter).
Go Argentina!:)

I am so excited about the Olympics. I love to watch the gymnastics, all of the track races, the swimming, diving, etc. I am particularly interested in seeing how the American women will perform in Athens as the reigning World Team Champions in gymnastics. Also, it seems the American men might actually have some medal hopes in gymnastics this time as well!

Are you sure? I think they won the OLM back in '96. In 2000 the Rumanian team won that event

Last year though (2003) the American girls won the world championships in gymnastics...so technically they are the reigning world champions.

I don't like summer sports

but I will probably end up watching the gynastics stuff....

Oh, sorry, I tought this was about the last OLYs, but they're World Camps.:)

I'll be watching my second favorite sport, gymnastics! (even though the Canadian team doesn't have a good chance at medalling)

My name is C-----, and I am an Olympics-holic. Really--I love everything about the Olympics except basketball, but that's because I have no interest in that sport. I love watching gymnastics, diving, swimming, etc. Basically, I love it all! I will be glued to the television every single night.

As it get's closer and closer, my hubby and I always have the discussion........is this the year we get a "dish" so we can absolutely catch every single event and stay up 24-7 to watch it all (except synchronized swimming:laugh: ) 42

I can't wait to follow the tennis. It's not enough to have 64234234 tournaments a year, I need the Olympics too!

Swimming is a good watch too. As is track.

I'm with you! I always end up getting glued to the set for the entire 2 weeks!

However, the swimming events have become less interesting to me since the guys have started to wear those suits that practically cover up everything! I mean, come on here...:D

Is there a 12-step program that we can all join and/or start up to help us with this problem :)
