The youngest, whiniest, most annoying winner ever--but she played hard and got the right breaks in the last three days when it counted most. That's why I think this show, even though it can get boring, is the most "realistic" of the so-called reality shows. Where human nature is concerned, anything can happen. Just like in reality.
My favorite moment of the wrap-up was when Jeff Probst noted that Heidi's IQ was "off the charts." She says she purposefully downplayed her intelligence. If that's true, maybe she really is that smart. She did make it to the final five. OTOH, standard IQ tests don't measure intelligence in "Survivor" terms. (I wonder if any test could?) Anyway, I thought that was an interesting factoid. But if she's got a higher IQ than the "rocket scientist" (I don't know who that was), what's she doing teaching high school PE?
I didn't watch the show that closely: Heidi's breasts have got to be implants. Was that ever discussed?

I thought Jenna redeemed herself somewhat when she said that she was appalled by watching herself on the show, that she is really young, learned a lot from watching herself, and that she still has a lot to learn. What a contrast to Richard Hatch:lol:
If either Heidi or Jenna's families had any problems with them dropping top and trow for food, those families have no idea what it's like to be starving and out in a wilderness situation to the point where all bush is the same, be it animal or plant.
At least Rob got a girlfriend out of being on Survivor. Wonder what Jenna will do with the bucks, which will only be about $500,000 after taxes (still a lot)?
The final irony: After almost 40 days in the Amazon, a storm in New York City prevented them from holding the final show in Central Park.

Hey, all.
I was shocked when I saw Jenna in the final 2, but we knew she was capable of winning immunity. Wonder who Matt/Rob would have chosen if he had won immunity instead.
While driving to work today, I heard part of WPLJ's interview with Heidi and some tape of interview's with Jenna's Dad, Matt and Rob. As per Heidi, she's been accepted to med school and into a program for her masters in nursing. She says she always has her head in a book. If anyone noticed Matt and Jenna being all over each other, apparently Matt brought a buxom blond to the after party. Jenna's Dad didn't seem upset about the nudity, but he's had time to adjust to it.
Back to Heidi's intelligence, book smarts and IQ have never translated into street smarts and/or common sense. In some ways, Heidi seems somewhat naive about the world and how people view her. Kinda like an absent minded professor. On several occasions, she seemed distracted and then startled back into life (i.e. when she started bidding against Jenna for the 2nd letter.) I have a friend like this and she drives me nuts at times. Her intentions are good, but she always ends up annoying someone over an extended period of time and doesn't understand why until the reason is explained bluntly.
I wish I could remember the name of the book, but it was about how intelligence does not equal success. As per the book, success is based upon interpersonal skills. Perhaps this is why Matt was not able to beat Jenna. During Heidi's interview, she said that Matt was hard to get to know - he was interesting, but difficult to relate to. On the other hand, Jenna did make friends with several and rub other people the wrong way, but no one felt distant from her.
BTW, I read somewhere that Heidi admits to having implants, but I can't guarantee the authenticity of the source.

A thousand pardons for my not doing my threadwork. But unless she is in a very small minority, the physics of Heidi's breasts are not determined by silicone but by plain old saline. Remember all those lawsuits against Dow-Corning? Since I watched the show only erratically, what tipped me off (har har) was that everything on Heidi was getting noticeably thinner save one--well, two--areas of her anatomy. In fact everybody who lasted until the final six looked significantly thinner by the end. Matt looked quite friendly at his normal weight. When he was getting skeletal, sharpening that knife really did make him look scary.
I think the Survivor babes have already been approached. Jenna's already a swimsuit model, so I don't see the big diff. Playboy doesn't actually pay that much, but for a lez layout those girls could command some serious bucks.

I've read that stuff too about how intelligence as measured by standard IQ tests has no correlation to success and that the biggest factor is skill at interpersonal relationships. That's why I think the "Survivor" series is such an interesting sociological/anthropological/psychological study. I think you nailed it when you noted that whether Jenna was liked or disliked by the others, she was never remote. Even though Jenna is very different from Richard Hatch, is is another one who was very human to everyone. How better to be human than walking around naked? I don't know if this theory holds up for all the Survivor winners--I can only remember Hatch, Tina, and Jenna--but it would be interesting to have all the Survivor cast members go through psychological testing that is designed to evaluate interpersonal skills and see how they rank within their respective groups. And how about this: After another couple of seasons, have a Super Survivor where all the Survivor winners and runners up (enough for a dozen) play for a $10 million prize? Perhaps impossible, but interesting to ponder.

I love your idea for a Super Survivor contest. I just wish there could be a way to include Rob since I think he is the ultimate Survivor player of all time; he went beyond Richard Hatch in his game play.
I think that you would agree on which Survivors were the most memorable. I had a really hard time remembering Vecepia, Ethan and porno-car-salesman Bryan. If I try to think of the 2nd place survivors, there was Kelly W, Colby, and Clay. I can't recall the remaining 2 2nd place survivors (to Vecepia and Ethan) - that's probably because they were the most boring of the 6. Looking forward to Survivor Pearl Islands - especially since Friends is having only a limited season next year.
The beginning of Survivor seemed so long ago that I don't recall how the players looked at the start. I used to think that Alex & Dave were the best looking, but Matt looks really good when he's not starved. Also, Alex seemed too 'out there' when he was blathering about Matt's dehydrated episode. I found Rob annoying at the beginning and now I respect him. Just goes to show that you can't always rely on 1st impressions.

Thanks for adding that part to your post, Heyang. Perhaps this kind of stuff interests me because I know I USED to be like Heidi in the more subtle machinations of interpersonal skills and awareness. I was the "young smart one" a lot and used to pretend like things just went over my head when others were trying to provoke me just because I didn't want to get down in the dirt and fight. So I'm sure I seemed like I was totally oblivious. And sometimes I was totally oblivious. Later on, though, I made it my business to learn how to be intentionally manipulative and to use what was going on beneath the surface instead of trying to blow them off or just ignore them. Hmm, perhaps I shouldn't be giving this away:lol: When I first started dancing with a professional company, it was supposed to be a "democratic" company where artistic decisions were made by consensus. Har har. It was kind of like an artistic "Survivor." Anyway, no matter what the circumstances, I think the way people relate determines the outcome of a situation a lot more than intelligence and I just don't mean in terms of business success.
I agree with you that a lot of the people who finished 2nd or 3rd in some Survivors were better players and more interesting than some of the winners. I'd make my Super Survivor include the top two or three from each season.
