As ice dancers, Susanna Rahkamo and Petri Kokko from Finland, made their way up the competitive ranks they became known as innovators. At a time where their sport was largely known for its "protocol judging," they managed to climb from 20th place at the 1987 World Figure Skating Championships to the silver medal in 1995 (winning gold at Europeans).

Oh I miss them Sooo much.... they were true gems in an era of much more sophisticated creativity. It saddens me to think of the skating that has come since, that has been rewarded.... trashy bikini outfits looking like 'seconds from some burlesque show on ice...'... Susanna and Petri were skaters of sublime quality, class, sophistication, exceptional intelligence, and ... sense of humor. Probably my favorite program was the Tchaikovsky "mock" humor program... a treasure.

It was indeed! This was my first exposure to this symphony of Tchaikovsky's...imagine my shock in music class (symphonic literature) years later to learn it was really a serious work!

The tramps in Paris program was also a favorite.

Sad to hear that Petri has had back problems. Like the Protopopovs, it would be great if they could be a couple that keeps skating together forever...
