The Amazing Shawn Sawyer

One of my favorite Canadian male skaters is the amazing Shawn Sawyer. If any skater could channel the late incomparable Toller Cranston, it would be Shawn Sawyer. In fact Toller brought Shawn to the attention of Canadian skating fans in a special skating show that was a tribute to Toller when he retired from skating in 1997. I've always loved Shawn's unbelievable artistry and acrobatics on ice.

He is currently skating in the Cirque du Soleil Crystal show.

I actually recognized him in one of the numbers. For most of the show, the number of skaters and identical costuming make it impossible to recognize anyone. However, he is in a number near the end of the show with 4 skaters dressed in "business" attire (wearing suits and initially carrying a briefcase) and he is recognizable there. And he's even more recognizable in the after-show cast bows.

when i watch toller skate like this, i think ellen burka instantly as she is greatly responsible for having male skater work on their upper body/carriage... and as she also coached Patrick Chan, I get the connection from Toller to Patrick as well...

Love watching Shawn skate! I am grateful we got to see him in the US SOI tour a few seasons ago, also in a "Halloween on Ice" show in the fall of 2015.
