Re: Better yet...

Doris, DC did have separate practice passes for sale at MCI, and you could buy them for the Conv. Center at the MCI box office too. I know because I didn't decide to go until the last minute, and practice passes were about all I could get in the lower bowl. I went to most of the practice sessions, and a few competition sessions too.

Joe, ITA about getting to a Worlds at least once. And not just to see the skating. I've learned so much about skating from other fans, and people in the skating biz that I met at Worlds and other competitions I have attended. And IMO, attending the practices is one of the best things about going to comps. It's the only way to see how the skaters work. And it's fascinating to see what a skater was working on in practice come together in the competition.

Re: Better yet...

Terilyn, Glad to hear practice passes were for sale. So it's reasonable to assume that they will be available at future worlds as well. A friend of mine had been unable to get one for some reason, and told me that none were for sale. I was sad to hear that because it's the best way to see a lot of skaters up close. A practice pass came with my all event ticket, so I never bothered to check whether she was right.

Re: Better yet...

Well, it DID take a little legwork. First I went to the Convention Center, and they told me they didn't sell them in advance. I could buy one the morning of the practice that I wanted to attend. Then I went to MCI box office, and they said they had practice tix available for some days and some days there weren't any. So your friend must have been trying for one of those unavailable days... Mci box office was selling the Convention Center passes in advance though. Confusing, huh? :rollin:

I was happy though; I managed to get in to see all the practices I really wanted to see. Maybe next time I'll plan in advance like a normal person, and get one of those all-event tickets!

Re: Better yet...

Skate America will be held in Reading PA instead of Harrisburg. Yes, I've ordered my tickets. Reading is an hour drive from my city.

The last competition I saw live was 1992 Nationals, both the men's and ladies' long program events. There were plenty of tickets available for the men's event. The ladies we lucked out on, as the event was sold out. As my friend and I were leaving the arena, a tour group came along and had two tickets that weren't being used. They asked if we would like to have them. So, I bought them and had a great time that day. I was quite hoarse from the cheering.
