Tragedy strikes Rochette

Oh, sorry, Tonichelle, I didn't realize. Not sure why the creator would do that. People from all over the world are being so wonderfully sympathetic about this.

The death of a 57 year old parent of an elite Canadian athlete who was under tremendous pressure to perform well at these Olympics by members of her own country and OC should be investigated for a possible link between the HUGE pressure Canada put on ALL its athletes, particularly the figure skaters, and the death.

Maybe Joannie's Mom couldn't handle the pressure for her daughter anymore and succumbed in the wee hours to sudden cardiac death. If this is true, the forces exerting the pressure are, IMHO, guilty of manslaughter. What a horrible thing to happen.

All of our hearts should be with her, particularly if it was the pressure of her own countrymen that caused the death and won't allow her to take the time off to mourn and bury her mother in peace.

I'd agree only if parents of athletes were falling down left, right and centre. Alas, they're not.

What happened to Joannie was a terrible, sudden and unexpected tragedy.

NBC said last night that Joannie was rooming with Tessa Virtue. After hearing the news, Tessa gave the room to Joannie and Joannie's dad is with her. It sounds like people are being as supportive as possible. Go compete, girl, and knock it out of the park!

Human kindness in its purest form. Im happy her Dad is with her.
