Re: Skating before and after

tdnuva, Betty Calloway/T&D is the right answer. I wanted to conceal it a little.
Didn't know T&D won Emmies! I am so glad to hear it.

(I was looking for Boitano and Witt for Carmen on Ice)

I loved the Carmen SanDiego spoof. Just sorry I signed on too late to work on figuring out the puzzle, thank's berthesghost.

Re: Skating before and after

I know one! I know one! I think. Berthes Ghost, under "Where Are They Now?"
10.Oksana's Pink Power-Puff Girls costume
I believe it is at the New York City All-Stars Cafe in their exhibit of various famous costumes and sports memorobilia.

Wow! Nine pages! I even knew some other ones. I should keep up more;)

Re: Skating before and after

#9 Gymnastics champ = Surya Bonaly? Or was she a tumbling champ?

rgirl, the only reason I know that is that I was one of the designers on that job.

Re: Skating before and after

Nobody remembers the Sonja quote?

IIRC it goes like this:

"So you're the one everybody keeps saying is the next Sonja Henie. Well listen sweetie (pokes little Carol in chest with finger repeatedly), there's only ever gonna be one Sonja Henie, and that's me!"

When I heard this story, all I could think of was the Susan Hayward character from 'Valley of the Dolls'.

Quote:
rgirl, the only reason I know that is that I was one of the designers on that job.[/quote] Berthes Ghost, you mean at the All Star Cafe? Cool! The only reason I knew it is I remember seeing on the local news in NYC when Oksana donated it to the place. I also know Ilia Kulik donated his vinyl giraffe Olympic costume to some restaurant, but I don't know which one.

Re: Skating before and after

From an earlier series of q's:

10. Whose father was a gymnastics champion: Isn't it Yuka Sato?

From Berthe'sGhost "Carmen Sandiego" q's:

2: London?
3: Denver?
... the others I knew were already answered... This is fun, keep 'em comin'!

Re: Skating before and after

London No
Denver Yes

After becoming the first NA to win worlds, Barbara Ann Scott was given a yellow Buick convertable. What was the license plate #?

Re: Skating before and after

Isn't Kristi's Malaguena costume in the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, Colorado Springs?

Re: Skating before and after

Just to clear off some old ones that no one answered:
The man who changed his last name to suit himself was Rocky Marval, whose born last name was Marvaldi.

Re: Skating before and after

#3 is Denver.

Malegunea is in Colo as well.

Re: Skating before and after

Wow - you're all really throwing the trivia around. Haven't been on computer too much - just long enough to check on a couple of threads. Busy at work and getting ready for vacation.

I did get the Skating Trivia game a few days ago. I'll have a look at it when I get back on Thursday.

Re: Skating before and after

Hi Heyang.........can't wait. We probably should start a new thread when you get your game up and running.......42

Re: Skating before and after

Figure Skating Hall of Fame

Berthe's ghost, where in Denver (Malaguena)?
Apparently not at Hall of Fame, then, since,
See above link. Hall of Fame is pictured, located in Colo. Springs?

Famous Quotes about Skating

Until the Trivia Game is set up, how about swapping some famous quotes? Of course we all remember Dick, Angela and the refrigerator break, but do you remember what music Angela was skating to when Dick said it.

And

About whom was the following quote said and by whom, and at what event:

"If costumes in ice dance continue like this, I predict they will be dancing in the nude by 1992."

I have no idea about whom it was (I have not much on tape from that time and my memory is rarely exact about costumes) but I guess it was during the Olympics 1988 cause commentators often think in terms like "the next big event"...

Re: Famous Quotes about Skating

Off the top of my head, Doris....Dick Button said of Michelle after her first World Championship skate......"Simply, the Best"

Re: Famous Quotes about Skating

Doris, I've confused you.

Kriti's dress is in the world figure skating museum, in Colo like I said.

The answer to #3, where in the world is Sonja Henie, is Denver, who voted to give up thier Olympic bid for 76.

Re: Trivial FS Pursuit

Angela was performing to the Mummy soundtrack when the comment was made. I rewatched it the other day and boy, he was spot on. What an awful program.
