so, as we wait for world events to kick off, thought i'd start a thread so we can introduce each other to any new as-yet-undiscovered(?) fs talents that you think might be big names in future. i've seen some interesting videos on youtube. nice to know we always have a talented crop of skaters to keep the sport going :)

tiny korean skater. i think she is 9 years old in american age (10 yo in korean age), turning 10 next month or so. she still has lots to work on, but looks like she has plenty of attitude and has potential to develop into a good artist on ice :)

japanese skater. seems to be pretty hyped up by the media. maybe the next big japanese hopeful? not sure how old she is.

if anybody else has more to share, esp. american or european skaters, i'd love to take a look!

adding another:
hungarian skater, who has lovely spins.she's prob not new though, i don't think she'll be necessarily "big" due to lack of jumps. but still very nice to watch.

I know there are some vids on youtube of them but I am not able to find them right now. But Maia and Alex Shibutani(3rd JR US dance) are surely on the rise!

I just love their skating! They finished 4th in US juniors this year.

icenetwork has the US Junior championships which covers intermediate and juvenile skaters nationally on their videos page.

the Shubinatis are SO CUTE!

And I gotta give another shout out to Jr. Men's skater Keegan Messing. He's got a 3A-3T combo... and he's gotten buzz as being somewhat like a young Scott Hamilton (Don Laws noticed him last year and said as much IIRC). He's a great skater, and great entertainer (he'll be skating in a local show in the next couple of weeks :))

I've not found his skates on youtube yet...

I really like them too, I've been following them for about a year. But I worry a bit about their height difference. He seems to be growing taller and she not so much -- and girls are supposed to get their growth spurts first. If they were a pairs team, maybe it would be just perfect, but being a dance team...

Without agreeing or disagreeing with anyone, it is so plesureable to see posters who can mention talent other than the STARS.

Another team I'd like to give a shout out for is the new team of Summersett and Gilles in ice dance. They finished fifth this year in a very strong US Nationals field. Their OD to music from Brother Where Art Thou (choreographed by Chris Dean) was excellent! (The tunes they used from the soundtrack were old standby's, Man of Constant Sorrow and Down to the River). Christopher Dean choreographed their program.

I'm sorry that it hasn't hit youtube yet, but it can be seen on icenetwork's US Nationals coverage.

Here's a photo of their very cool straight line lift from the OD:

I'm not as fond of their FD. They debuted both programs at the Lake Placid Ice Dance competition, where a member of the audience did film the FD:

I like their OD, but not thier FD... and their CD costumes were horrible for the eyes lol

but I liked him when he was with Trina too....

Joel Dear and partner (sorry, brainfart moment, can't remember her name) were also very good at nationals (I thought anyway) I liked their OD - Jewish Wedding... though I didn't get that whole vibe without the costume... I was waitig for the Fiddler on the Roof music and dancing lol

Bubbleyum mentioned Yuki Nishino; here is a nice video about her and her training:

It looks like she hit a growth spurt this season and in addition to trying to fix her lip her jumps became a bit insecure (plus she underrotated a few), but it looks like she should be able to adjust to new height/weight with time. She still has great power in her jumps.
Watching her very recent programs feels a bit weird, because she seems to have outgrown them - they suited her at the beginning of the season, when she still had a little girl\\\'s body - but now she became quite tall and mature-looking, and a more ladylike costume & program would definitely suit her more. :)
In the video they say she is working on 3-3s and 3A (and she is shown landing 3T-3T). Her idol is Shizuka Arakawa. :)

ETA:
Here is her LP at Jr.Worlds:

Jumps were somewhat out of control, but definitely great potential here. Tarasova praised her quite a lot for her musicality. :)
