VCR Alert, Friends & Family On Ice

I even enjoyed WEISS... Is the world ending?

That made me laugh, thanks! I enjoyed him too. Who'da thunk it?
The kids were so many different kinds of adorable, and it's good to see Kristi on the ice any time. The show was as corny as Kansas in August, and I enjoyed it immensely.

Viktor's Birth of the Blues and Ilia's Too Darn Hot were fantastic. Michael Weiss was the best I've ever seen him. Daria and Liza were adorable, but the star kid was Viktoria. I loved that they gave her that nice solo. At 10, she is just as good as the winning juveniles at this years US nationals and might have given the intermediates a run too. (I wonder if she is competing? in US &/or Ukraine? I see a future for proud Papa seeing her on the podium sometime soon.)

From what I've read, Viktoria competes at the preliminary level in the USA. I've watched preliminary competitions and she seems way advanced for that level. But I'm sure she'll move up if she keeps going.

Do you think dad(Victor) is her coach? I bet grandma had a hand in her training. Wasn't sure whom she was / if competing and which country.
Not that it matters but IMO she one to watch in the future.

I loved this show! The kids were precious with their comments in the introductions of their parents, and the grown-ups were great too! Viktoria Petrenko was amazing. Daria looked just lovely on the ice. The Polar Express program was delightful. it cracked me up to see the grown-ups wearing the black/white costumes from the 2003/2004 SOI "Time" tour (the ones used in the transition numbers that season) in the Polar Express number. This one is definitely one of my favorite professional skating shows of the season.

This show was fantastic!

While Kristi's jumps aren't what they were, her body line and expressiveness are so beautiful.

I agree that Vicotor and Ilia stole the show with their wonderful choreograpy and skating. These two numbers in particular made me wish that choreographers would be credited. I want to know who creates this great work!

I know Ilia often does his own choreography. Does anyone know if he choreographed Too Darn Hot? It was perfect for the music, inventive, technically interesting, and so well performed. I feel that Ilia is following in Kurt's footsteps as far as musicality and versatiltiy. I have seen Ilia skate to techno, pop ballads, musical comedy, jazz, and he can do it all.

If anyone missed it the Style Network has been rerunning the NBC shows on Sunday mornings at 9 am central.

Yes, Ilia is amazingly versatile!

Too Darn Hot has been choreographed by Patricia Wilcox, a Broadway choreographer. The music gave the possibility for that wonderful choreography. Ilia performed to this number already in season 2005-2006. The first performance was in 2005 SOI Antwerp. With the exception of SOI 2007 promo, this was the programme´s first broadcast in USA.

In this show Wilcox had choreographed also Viktor´s number (Birth of the Blues?) and Katia´s Cinecita.
