The trouble with posting videos is that people see what they want to see. Two people can stare directly at the stop-frame of this video at the 4:09 mark and say to each other, "See? she's clearly on the right (wrong) edge." (I was just about to post the vid with my version of "See?"
)To me, the 3T looked fine, the 3F looked rotated (just a little skid on the landing), both her Lutzes looked OK (on the first one she swings her leg out to the side which maybe compromises the edge a little -- the second looked good.)
Anyway, this is exactly why people have lost interest in figure skating. If the CoP doesn't like this performance by Michelle, then so much the worse for the CoP.

This was when they were really stingy with GOE.
Caro got .86 in SP and LP.
Irina got .71 in the LP.
Look at the GOE Caro got for her combo jump. Mostly +1 and +2.
Look at the GOE Irina got for her combo jump. Mostly 0.
And they were on Irina's turf. And Irina was on FIRE the entire season.
Get a gripe. When Caro landed her jumps, even without any reputation, her GOE were massive. Much higher than anyone else.
She's super inconsistent, but her jump qualities are just above and beyond the likes of Irina.
In 2006, at the Olympics where Caro really fell apart. Her 3Lo still got the highest GOE of the ladies competing.

Witt has two OGM...
Witt won for political reasons. None of her jumps are particularly high quality, and she got much worse contents any anyone else in the top 6. Her fartistry is so foul, I wouldn't watch her again, wouldn't pay to see her.

I don't agree with this. Witt was sometimes lucky that strong free skaters did poorly in compulsories, such as Manley in 1988, but she generally placed below those who skated cleaner with more difficulty (Manley in the 1988 Oly LP, Thomas in 1986, etc.). There weren't any good artistic skaters during that period, but Witt was the best of the bunch.

Irina landed several triple-triples that would be ratified under today's rules e.g. 3T+3T from 1998 Olympics and 1998 Worlds, 3S+3Lo from 1997 Worlds, 2000 GPF, 1998 Worlds.

And she actually does some turns and moves before that rather than skate through the whole wink like Carolina doing nothing. Carolina's flip is beautiful but not as high and powerful.

Both examples are so inferior to Caro's 3Flip above in both height and distance and speed and air position and everything else.
If you think a few wiggles here and there 5 seconds before the jump add anything special to the jump or make the jump better than the example above, then you are alone. Oops, no, you are not alone. There are 2 other you. Judges showed they prefer Caro's flip, and loop to Irina's. Done deal.

I would only accept as reliable and irrefutable proof:
_HD videos of all phases of the competitions (including figures) from the top 5
_HD video with dolby system audio of the winning LP including commentary by Peggy Fleming saying: "She's not just skating to Carmen. She is Carmen"
_HD video of the medal ceremony of both events with commentary by Dick Button saying "Simply the best" referring to Witt.
If you can't provide all this, please don't bother and make better use of your time doing something really productive instead.
