Who should go to Worlds?

Well, I guess USFS did follow its own stated rules. To take into account international results over the last two seasons in addition to placement at nationals.

I wish, though, that they could come up with some firm, well-defined rules beforehand, and not make it seem like cloak-and-daggers intrigue in the inner sanctum.

I will SO be rooting for Katrina to blow the roof off the place at Four Continents!

I feel the correct decision was made for Worlds & 4CC. Kimmie needs some time to regroup before Worlds and that gives Katrina the international experience of doing the 4CCs. The pressure would have been too much for Katrina if she would have been sent to Worlds. Plus as what was mentioned before. Katrina at her best almost equalled Kimmie at her worst.

On a lighter note, rock on Bebe for getting to go to Worlds for the 1st time!!:rock:

:clap:Come on Ashley, Bebe & Kimmie!! You can do it!!

I would not have wanted to be on that selection committee, but I think they made the right decision. I hope Kimmie's able to put things back together before Worlds.

This was the first time I saw Katrina skate and I really liked her, despite the fact she doesn't have the technical difficulty as most of the other US ladies. I'm glad she gets to go to 4CCs and I wish her the best of luck there!

I'm also happy Bebe's finally going to Worlds after so many years. I remember when she was the tiny little jumping bean competing at the senior level for the first time! I really liked Ashley when I first saw her at Skate Canada, so I'm glad she made the World team, too. Best of luck to them both!

Too bad two out of the three ladies medalists at US Nationals are age-ineligible for Worlds, but of the ladies who are old enough to go, I think the selection committee made the right decision.

i am so happy that Bebe finally got to the world team! She must be really happy. I have to disagree aout sending kimmie though. that girl needs to get home and train and work out her jump issues and enjoy college.

chyeah!
i loved bebe's harry potter program a while back

as for kimmie, *sigh*

i think she should go....
realistically, imo,i don't any of these US ladies can get onto the podium...right?

Thing is though, even Meissner on her worst day is better than some of the alternates at their best. In this situation, tough though it was, I think the right choice was made. And I don't even feel confident about her morale going into Worlds, whether she will be motivated enough to care. I know I would have similar problems after a season like that.

But here's the situation: let's hope that she and Wagner can go 6-7 (in either order, although I would prefer KM to have the higher spot). That's probably the only realistic chance we have of keeping 3 spots. But Wagner is too new- I can't be sure of a top 10 finish for her. Meissner can do top 10 if she does any better than at GPF/US Nats. BeBe- forget it...but I do hope she enjoys it, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her.

Go Bebe! I think Bebe is capable of surprising.

But there is something very strange about the mistakes she makes on her jumps. She seems to rush and let one part of her body get ahead of another. This caused her to totally pop two jumps in the LP. She just never got into the air with any rotation at all.

Alissa (in my armchair quarterback's opinion) does something similar. On jumps she leads too much with her head, neck and shoulders, then her lower body can't quite make it all the way around.

I agree with Red Dog. At worlds, Kimmie should forget the podium, turn a couple of nice triple/doubles, and aim for a top 5.

I think that Ashley can finish in the top 10... She hits her jumps really consistently, and some of the other skaters aren't that consistent. I doubt there are 10 women in the world who will out perform Wagner. I have to look at the scores, but Wagner was better received on the GP circuit I believe than Meissner/ Hughes were on their first outings on the GP circuit. Then add in that Nakano, Rochette, Kostner, and Meier are all extremely inconsistent, and I think Ashley can score well...

Wagner, Liang and Hacker are going to 4CC.

Pairs and Dance teams for 4CC:
Inoue/Baldwin
Castile/Okolski
Vise/Trent

Davis/White
Navarro/Bommentre
Wester/Barantsev

Are Samuelson and Bates to young to go to 4CC's because they did finish ahead of Wester/Barantsev?

I think the chances are certainly there, but ice is slippery and ANYONE can have an off-night, anytime. Nothing is a done deal. I do agree that many of the folks who rounded out last year's top 10 are inconsistent.

Additional note: is it expecting too much of wagner to finish in the top 10? I suppose it's natural though, with BeBe's inconsistency and Meissner having the worst skates of her career in back-to-back comps.

I'm suffering from post-nationals hangover and can't find the link with the naming of worlds and 4C's teams. Can someone post it. Thanks.

The team selection for worlds was mentioned in this article from NBC Sports:

Ashley Wagner finished third, and she is eligible for worlds. She and Bebe Liang were selected for the world team along with Kimmie Meissner, whose stunning decline continued with a seventh-place finish.
