Cohen, Shen & Zhao, Lambiel, Plushenko, and others are returing for the Olympic season. Who has your vote for most successful comback?

I voted Shen & Zhao.

Sasha is by nature inconsistent, so it's going to be really tough for her this season.

I think Evgeni's comeback will be succesful, but not as mush as Shen & Zhao - they're miles ahead of all the other pairs, even S&S.

the poll should have been, who will have a come back for real?:biggrin:It still looks unreal for all!
how successful is measured, by the way?In top 10 or 5, or on the podium?Or winning a gold medal?About a gold medal speculation, is a bit tricky since they are not on ice yet, so i thought who would be competitive for a medal, anyway i voted for plush (surprised?:p) but same goes also for S/Z who will have less competition than the men field.
and I think this other has a lot of potential;)

Since some may not make it back - for whatever reasons - I vote for Shizuka.
Now if someone could convince her to return I think she would be a serious contender of the podium in Vancouver. Would she even have to make a top three placement at Japanese Nationals? If she did come back, I suspect she would be given a ticket to Vancouver because realistically how much chance do Fumie or Yukari have to medal at Olympics? Strongest team would be Mao, Miki and Shiz. There could even be a possibilty for a sweep if Yuna and Joannie buckled under the pressure and Caro had another attack of vertigo. :)

To me, on the podium will be successful for any come backs. But S/Z was two time Olympics bronze medalists. They are looking for only gold medal this time. Plushenko was Olympics gold and silver medalist. He set the bar a little lower for himself, a medal. So I think to reach what they themselves want, is the measure for success. I was torn between S/Z and Plushenko. I voted Plushenko.

I'd love it if Shizuka were to return. However, I'm not sure she'd want to risk getting anything less than gold.

That´s an interisting poll. I voted for Plushenko, but I also expect a lot from the others.

:agree:

I voted for Plushenko because he's actually said he's coming back, but I would LOVE to see Shizuka come back (even if it's incredibly unlikely). However, I hope she doesn't skate to Turandot again...

I voted for S/Z because it's like they have had this plan since 2006. They want gold! I don't really believe in P and S coming back. (Hope I'm wrong)

Who could "the others" be? Some ghosts from old times?

If success is defined as making the podium I think Plush has the best chance. I think Sasha will have the hardest time out of these three choices. I'm also wondering about "the others."

Interesting.

I think Shen/Zhao have the best chance - the pairs field isn't all that strong right now. More than that, I think they're skating for themselves. Plushenko has nothing left to prove and there's a feeling (to me, anyway) that he's skating for the future of Russian Skating, etc. This will likely be their least successful games ever (in terms of figure skating). I think S/Z are hungrier.

Shen and Zhao, to me, seem like the best bet that they'll even make the comeback... so they get my vote

I think Plushenko by far. The mens field is so weak compared to what he used to dominate. I mean Evan Lysacek was World Champion last year, LOL! If he is even 85% of his best he will clean up. Shen/Zhou will have a hard time. The Germans have too much difficulty, enough presentation, and the judges momentum. Shen/Zhou are also kind of old. I could see a medal for him but not the gold. Sasha wont even go through with her comeback all the way. She will get her butt handed to her at Eric Bompard if she even shows and withdraw from all future events with an "injury".

Shen/ Zhao~!
The other "comebacks" seem pretty last minute, and as others have pointed out, they have been preparing for years.

Easily, Shen/Zhao should. They are the only choice in this poll of skaters who have actually competed and earned a World title (2007) in this Olympic quad (2007-2010).
