Why can't anyone sing like Judy Garland? The same reason no one can dance like Fred Astaire, LOL.

But didn't you like Patti LaBelle's, or Eva Cassidy's version?

I, too, don't like the live singer format very much. Too many stars shaing the spotlight. In Ilia Kulik's number with Art Garfunkle it seemed like Garfunkle was the star and Kulik just provided a little visual accompaniment.

I agree with IdleRacer that the American Music theme was wasted. They just pretty much skated to whatever they wanted to. They should have done -- you know, the icons of American music: John Philip Sousa, Duke Ellington, Elvis Presley...

Other than that, I loved it!

PS. Renee Roca's number with the three guys was great. Also Caryn Cadavy.

The show had it faults, but I do enjoy Lee Ann Miller's choreography. I thought the opening ensemble numbers of Cole Porter were terrific. And Rene Roca's contributions were first class pro.

There were several skaters in the group where I think the sun is setting but one can't go wrong with Ilia, Kurt and, of course, Kristi.

yes, Kurt seemed to be very popular with the crowd!

I found Garfunkle's yellow wig to be both distracting and disturbing. He should take a lesson from Paul Simon, whose hairpiece is a little more tasteful. :p

I'm just glad Timothy Goebel wasn't skating to Garfunkle's live accompaniment. The two of them would've looked like 20, and 60 year old versions of the same person

LOL that's true. Eva... I heard Eva's, more a fan of Imagine than anything else she's done. However yes, Patti's is great. But when I think of the versions that have been done I think unfortunately of Jewel and Faith Hill, neither which did it justice IMHO.

"Friends" by Michael W. Smith & other thoughts about ..... ROZ!

I thought the show was well-put together! I cried when Roz, Kristi and Caryn skated to Michael W. Smith's "Friends". And as for Roz, at 40.....she CAN STILL SKATE WITH THE BEST OF THEM! Loved "De-Lovely" and "Eighth World Wonder"....and I did enjoy her comments about what American music turned her on. :agree:
