Kinda along the lines of the Best Programs ever - as we've gotten onto a sort of SOI binge at the moment on there...

what programs would YOU consider as the BEST of Stars On Ice

requirements - the number (group, single, or otherwise) had to be performed at an SOI show

I will compose my list a little later ;)

ETA - CSOI IS allowed... it's Stars on Ice, just Canadian-fied.

I'm not sure if I have time to do such a list justice, but a quick ? - do CSOI programs count? 'Cause Kurt has treasures like "Ain't No Sunshine," "Time in a Bottle," "Crash," "Summertime," etc that he only did in CSOI but not SOI. And some of those rank on my all-time favorite Kurt programs list, much less favorite SOI programs...

Off the top of my head:
Kurt's "Solitaire" from the Carpenters finale (the finale is ok, I *adore* his part)
"Strobe's Nanafushi" - opening number
"Casi un Bolero/Si Tu No Estas"- Ilia Kulik & Katia Gordeeva
"Four Corners/Tell Me Everything" - Ilia, Katia, Elena Bechke, Denis Petrov
"Fun & Games" - cast
"Someday I'll Fly Away" - Kristi Yamaguchi & Denis Petrov
"Stairway to Heaven" - finale
FEVER - the whole Elvis section in the 97-98 show
"Fragile" - Katia Gordeeva
"Antares" - Kurt Browning
"Rubberband Man" - Ilia Kulik

I know there's been a lot more but I can't be here all day ;).

his "Wizard of Oz" program (in which he did all of the major parts)
Which was entitled "The Show Must Go On" and the official time was 6:18 ;)

he didn't play Toto, though, IIRC ;)

just had to go all fangirl for once on Scott ;)

I loved G and G's Out of Tears (Rolling Stones), and their "Five Guys Named Moe" with Kurt Browning and Brian Orser. Does anyone remember them?

Kurt--Brick House MOST DEF!!!!!

Kurt--Nyah

Kurt--I think it's Ragidon or something like that, the one with the plaid pants, suspenders and red nose

Cast:
The guys doing Studz
Chairmen
Hard Steele Is Back
Dream On and the whole finale of the year they called Imagination (at least I think that is what it was)

Ina/Zimmerman:
You're Beautiful

Kat Witt:
I'm The Only One

Oh I wish my memory would serve me better...I'm thinking of at least one of Roz's numbers but don't know the music, and I know there are others! If I get a chance to look throuogh my souvenier programs (which I didn't get every year), I'll come back and add more.

Patch - What did Roz wear? I might be able to help ;)

I do remember Out of Tears, cassie - it was one of their last performances in public before he passed away... I don't think I've seen teh other program.. but I've read about it.

That's it, Toni! I just couldn't think of the official title of it when I posted the original message! He didn't play Toto?

Bechke & Petrov - Samson & Delilah, Spartacus

Roz Sumners' - I Feel Lucky

Kat's - Lemon Tree

On Roz--I think I'm getting 2 performances mixed up in my mind...I can't remember if I'm thinking of the year she THOUGHT she was leaving but ended up coming back another year (at least I *think* that is what happened)...or if it WAS her last years' performance.

And Out of Tears! Oh yes...that is one thing I remember well from that very first year we went to SOI. I was just "getting into" skating and hardly knew who any of the skaters were. I had no idea who Katia and Sergei were the night of the show in 1995.

And iluvtodd reminded me of "Swing" (the baseball number from last year) AND
Steven Cousins' "Belfast Child"

Ok...this is a hard one because I love all the programs that SOI does...but.......

AXEL EDGE ROCKS!!!
This has to be one of the best group numbers that they have ever had...seriously!!!

And I love Jamie and David's Radar Love....maybe because i just love that song.

I could go on and on and one...but I won't.

I have followed the discussions/watched clips about SOI shows only during the years that Ilia was skating as a cast member or now as a guest star. My favourites have been (in no particular order)

Gordeeva & Kulik - Casi Un Bolero (seen it live, it was sooo beautiful!!!)
Kulik - Too Darn Hot
All the programmes by Hamilton and Browning
The programmes of Weiss in this and previous season´s show (what a performer!!!)

Actually One Day I'll Fly Away was part of the Moulin Rouge group number I mentioned earlier hehe.

Bechke & Petrov - Czardas (I'd love to know the artist they used)

Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze - If I Could, Elvis & Marilyn

Ina & Zimmerman - Harder To Breathe, Look At Little Sister, Bed of Roses

Yuka & Jason - House of Flying Daggers

Scott - Don Quixote, surprised no one mentioned it yet LOL

I also love that one "Club" program that was done in 99-00 tour, I can't remember what it was exactly but I think it was Lulu, I know she was in it, there might have been Katia, or Elena Bechke, or Jenni in it with Denis...

Alright in my sleep deprived state of mind I'm going to attempt my own 'game'

Openings - Strobe's Nanafushi

Scott Hamilton - When I'm 64, Don Q, One Week, The Show Must Go On *tear*, Heartbreaker (who knew he looked that good in pleather pants? ;)), Steppin Out, I Love Me (probably my favorite one ever), Walk This Way, Sabre Dance, Cuban Pete.... I'm blanking out lol - oh! wait! One For My Baby (originally a tribute to the show, became his tribute to Sergei - the toast was in his honor), Hair, I Who Have Nothing, With One More Look At You, Double Bogie Blues (no there aren't many of his programs that I don't like lol), My Way (OMG I have never cried so hard in my LIFE),

Kurt Brownng - Antares, Serenade to Sonia, Hey Pachuco, his newer version of Bring Him Home, Brick House, Nyah ( ), Ain't No Sunshine, Red Hat, Don't Fence Me In, Raggy, Funky Music (SO STINKIN HAWT!), Slippery Side Up (seriously who else can move like that?),

... gonna have to finish this later, gotta get ready to get to the campus!

There was one number with Scott H, Paul W and Kurt B where the 3 guys skated around with microphones on their skates. They used their edges to make the music.

Axel Edge and Studz - definitely.

Kristi - Someday I'll Fly Away, Doop Doop, Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Kurt - Brick House

Paul W - Schindler's List

Katia - the one with the Ribbon and her pairs routine with Ilia.

5 Minutes for Icing

:D loved it... IIRC CSOI had Brian Orser in place of... Paul?

no that was during Scott Hamilton's Upside Down special (which won an Emmy)

5 minutes for icing had Scott, Kurt, and Paul... and it was during Stars On Ice, not a TV special.

I only have limited knowledge of CSOI during the last few years, but...

Kurt Browning - If I Only Had a Brain (CSOI 2007)

Jamie Sale & David Pelletier - Elite Syncopations (CSOI 2006)

Joannie Rochette - Summertime (CSOI 2007)

Jamie Sale, Joannie Rochette, Jennifer Robinson - Ladies in Lavender (CSOI 2007)

Group Routines:

Overture/Comedy Tonight (CSOI 2006)

Dance Medley (CSOI 2006)

Peace, Love, Skating - (CSOI 2007)
