Why didn't I see this thread earlier?

I thought it would be fairly mixed, but a whole lot of people seem to enjoy all of Figure Skating.

The way I would describe my choice is not what's up there (I would say Ladies- but I also watch many non-championship ladies' events. For now, anyway). But that's the choice I picked.

I love all the disciplines and many, many skaters. I'm an overall skating fan.

My interest in figure skating was purely driven by the pairs. I loved watching the throw jumps - they were my favourite skating element, that and the split twists. I then became obsessed with the jumps in skating and got into watching Men's because of Elvis Stojko and his quads.

I used to find the ladies competitions boring because of the lack of high level jump content(!!)...that was until the 1995 world championships where by complete accident i happened to tape the coverage of the ladies competition and watched a sensational 14 year old land seven triples in competition...yep Ms Kwan made her impression and i then started watching the ladies competition and was sucked in by seeing Slutskaya putting loops on the end of combinations and then the next year at worlds not believing my eyes at seeing Tara land a 3sal/3loop at the age of what 12/13?

Dance has always been my least favourite discipline because, quite honestly, i never understand what the judges are looking for and since T&D don't really see the "dancing" that is supposed to happen!

US Dance competion

Dance has always been my least watched & attended event. This year with the Olympics and Belvin- Agusto being ineligible, the break-ups of top couples & the return of injured skaters this looks like the true competion to watch. The US gets to send 3 couples so 3RD & 4th place get to go. I'm so excited to see the comeback of Jamie Silverstein with Ryan O'Mera & was already ready to cheer on Tiffany Stiegler & Magerovsky. The law firm of Galler-Robynawitz & Mitchell is healthy & prepared to return to the top 3 as well.
I'll still be out to dinner durning compulsorys since the Yankee Polka has been chosen but i'll be glued to my seat for the remander of the competion.
Any thoughts?

Well, mens event has always been my favourite and currently it is the only dicipline I watch with particular interest, I hope to discover soon some new pair(s) to inspire me and make me rekindle my interests for pairs and ice dancing department....

I started out as a pairs skating fan. But right now, Ice Dance is my favorite discipline.

I like skaters in all 4 disciplines, and I watch all 4 disciplines, but Ice Dance is my favorite, followed by mens, pairs and then ladies.

I didn't choose any although I choose to watch mostly ladies but my interest in pairs and men's fluctuates.....

I have always been interested in all aspects of skating. I was a skater myself when I was a child and the interest just grew. I guess I got very interested in men's skating first when the two Brian's and Kurt were battling it out in 1988 but I still can remember rooting for Scott Hamilton but I was really young then. Now I love all 4 but ladies and pairs are so good right now. The men are awesome and well ice dancing is my least favorite. I miss Shay and Vic and as with allot of people it is the one I know the least about.

Do you realize that in this unscientific poll picked less than half for all disciplines.

I find that there is limited interest in Figure Skating as a whole and maybe that's an additional reason for the cut backs in TV showings.

My true interest is skating -- myself

I am a figure skater and I just love the sport. It's hard for me to be off the ice. When skating is on t.v. - I watch. When I'm at a rink -- I skate. Right now my life is school, skating, family and friends.

I am not a figure skater. I know pretty much nothing. I can tell you what I like, but nothing too technical. Anyway, my mom used to watch figure skating often. Back then it seems there was more coverage especially with pro figure skating on basic tv. Back then we mostly watched ladies figure skating. Nowadays, I am still enjoy ladies skating. But since the last Olys, I got interested in the other disciplines. Still today, I can miss the men's, dance, and pairs competition on tv and not be too upset. I will have a fit if I miss my ladies!

I chose all disciplines, but my "truthful" interest is in the singles comps, both men and ladies. I do watch the other disciplines, but I get bored with the limitations - I'd like to see creative programs made where the 2 skaters can be skating apart, or doing completely different things. But I know that's not the point of those disciplines. There are certain pairs and dance teams that I like to watch, but for me the singles competitions are more interesting, particularly the men.

I chose all disciplines. My favourites are definitely ladies and then pairs, with my interest in mens fluctuating from year to year. Dance is always bringing up the rear, but with Belbin/Agosto and Dubriel/Lauzon heading to the Olympics I will certainly be watching.

I know that I said 'only to watch the men's competition' and that is not completely true, but seeing all the good looking men skate doesn't hurt regardless of what discipline they are skating in. Of course it is not all about lookks, good looking guys that are amazing skaters make me !! I am sure we've all had crushes, I have like twenty going on right now..

I started off watching the women's competitions when I was little with my parents. But as time wore on, I religiously followed all disciplines.

I like all the disicplines but my order is

Men
Ladies
Pairs
Dance

I voted for all disciplines. I get most enjoyment watching mens, ladies and pairs but lately dance has become more and more interesting to me, even with the over-the-top drama that follows a Dance competition. I have my picked favourites in each discipline. Even though I follow and watch all disciplines the Men's is the most exciting for me. I only follow eligible skating because pro skating competitions/shows just doesn't appeal to me much but maybe once my favourite eligibles turn pro I'll start follow pro skating more actively.
