It's in Korean.
Apparently, Yu-Na had torn hip? muscle aside from her "normal" injury. However they did not announce her torn muscle injury because they did not want to give away too much information about her conditions...

She's recovered now as she rested after the Worlds.

OMG, OMG, she's just... something. I can't believe that she won FS with that injury... what a girl!

Worlds was, what, 10 days ago? If she truly had a torn hip muscle, there's no way she's already recovered.

There are various degrees of muscle ruptures. I've had a mild tear in my thigh (rather a muscle pull) and was fully recovered in less than 2 weeks. Some severely torn muscles may call for a surgery. The problem with most muscle damage is that unless you're very careful during rehab you're likely to suffer from a secondary injury.

What is her "normal" injury?

Joe

I would have to guess from previous articles that she had that chronic pain on the hip joint at the same time? OUCH, the last thing I would want with injuries like that is to fall on my butt on hard cold ice.

I took it to mean the torn hip muscle was in addition to her back problems of the last 2 seasons.

I worry about Yu-Na, and wonder if these chronic injuries will really allow her to compete at Vancouver. Poor girl. I just can't see her going through this for much longer. Some injuries need a lot longer than just a few weeks/months off the ice to heal..

It seems there is some confusion about Yu-Na's injuries.

As far as I know her injuries (back, knee, ankle, tailbone etc) last season was completely healed. They were mainly due to the terrible environment for training in Korea. After she moved to Canada they all disappeared and she was very healthy. As we all know, she won every competition including GPF. According to her coach Orser, she was completely ready for Worlds already in January and he did not know what to do further for her.

Then she suddenly got a new unexpected injury on her hip. Her left hip joint ligament became wider, and hip muscles swelled out. This was due to overuse. She said in an interview that she had practiced too much ignoring small pains and that she had got a new lesson that she would not ignore those small things any more.

This was the story known to the pubic until the new article came out yesterday. According to it, in addition to the hip injury identified in Canada, the MRI scan she took in Korea found another type of injury on her hip; her hip muscle was partially torn. But Yu-Na and her team decided not to disclose it. It required at least two weeks of full rest to recover from this injury but, as you know, she could not because she had to practice to compete at the Worlds. So it could not be properly healed. She just kept taking medicine and injections. Eventually she had to take a pain killer injection just 4 hours before the free skating competition. According to the article the injury is now almost healed.

So I guess and hope that there will be no futher injury.

I heard elsewhere that Yuna seems to have indicated an inclination to retire after the Olympics. But I don't know because I don't have access to the original language myself. Does she intend to do so???? If so, is that because of the injuries??? Would she retire regardless of the outcome of the Olympics????

If possible, I would love to see her stay longer because she will get more and more mature.

Yes, i think she would. She is very injury prone, and she will never heal 100% from the major injuries that she has now. Skating at her level is extremly taxing on the body and I am sure most of the doctors she has seen tell her to stop skating.

It's amazing that she won the LP and was a double lutz away from winning the whole thing, considering the injury. She and Mao have really proved their mettle this year.

No. I don't think it is not because of the injuries. It seems that she wants more freedom in her life like chatting with her friends, making a boy friend, attending school and so on. So she keeps saying that she would retire after winning the Olympics and become a professional doing ice shows all over the world. She repeated this hope in a very recent interview after the Worlds. When the interviewer asked her, "Do you think it can come true? Will all the newspapers let you live a free life?", she half-jokingly replied something like "Why do you want to kill my precious dream?"

I don't know what will happen if she fails to win Olympics. We may have to pray for that to see her stay longer. LOL

That's a great point. Many Michelle fans don't think Olympic gold would have led to retirement but I believe she would have retired to attend college fulltime and skate when she could. From a selfish fan's viewpoint then Michelle's Olympic silver and bronze gave me seven or eight great years of memories I am not sure I'd have had otherwise.

Of course many of Michelle's fans see her locking horns with Rachel, Mirai and Caroline at a Nationals coming up soon. Can you picture that?

I'll never get too much of Michelle or Yu-Na Kim or a few other special skaters. Of course I want first and foremost for their happiness and fulfillment but secondly I want them bringing their unique elite levels of skating to the ice as often as possible too.
