Yuna Kim | Page 199 | Golden Skate

Yuna Kim

She hadn't have home advantages during her entire career. She hadn't even been invited SC when she was in Canada (except 2006 canadians barely knew her). But what she had achieved is never off podium for a whole career. She is a legend.

The fact that Yuna has never finished off the podium in her entire career is absolutely mind-blowing. Such a testament to her technique and consistency. I was never nervous watching her when she competed because it was so easy to count on her to deliver solid performances

^I remember I was biting my nails during her 2013 Worlds LP because she had come back after almost 2 seasons of not skating, but when she started jumping, I was like ""she's got this." You can tell when a skater launches into a jump whether they're going to land it or not.

It's going to be a while before we see another lady competitor who can steamroll the competition with such coolness. I hope I'm wrong on this though.

was poking around IG and I found the elusive 2A-3T-2T of Yuna's!

killer instinct queen, no doubt! she prepares for anything

yeah, I watched that 2a-3t-2t with my naked eyes at 2013 worlds practice:biggrin: I was actually not focusing on Yuna at the moment, but somehow her 2a-3t-2t caught my attention. Felt so lucky, I didnot miss Yuna's 2A-3T-2T live. She only did that in 2013 worlds practice. So precious, Havent get a chance to watch Yuna's 2A-3T when she is still using it in competition, but I witnessed her glorious 2a-3t-2t in practice.
I guess it was just too beautiful to not notice:biggrin:

Yuna's 2A-3T is my favorite jump of hers! She used to to ina bauer entry into 2A-3T( proof!!)

yup, I was comparing Zijun's lay-back ina bauer to Yuna's as well. Felt when zijun does it, she didnot lower her back gradually, she just drops her back, there is not much control, therefore, not as smooth as Yuna's yet:biggrin:
Yuna did so many variation to that move as well. such as the "music director" in Die fledermaus, the "prayer" in someone like you. the "one arm drop" in only hope(yuzuru also did something similar in one of his ex), and the ultimate change-edge "cross the whole rink" ina bauer + 2A in SITC.
Ina bauer is one signature move for Yuna, she usually opt to do it in galas.
I think the most beautiful lay-back inna-bauer+2A is from Yuna's scheherazade.

yuna's 2A-3T-2T in the clip Sunny linked is absolutely textbook perfect, could learn so much from just watching that.

Surreal... i really miss her! Just re-read her Vancouver protocols, and I can only get mystified on how many pick on her scoring then and the complaints then, imo it was pretty stingey by today's standard, she even got a zero for her 3lz3t in her bond program!! Come on... who is that from?!!!! And her so called 'outrageous' FS GOEs is only worth 12 something points today which is a common occurrence.

One of the biggest in justice in this sport is the rule changes that prevented her include 2A3T in her FS... if there are truly no limitations and the free skate is truly free, who can really beat her among the ladies? I get the feelings she can do difficult 3/3 all day and 2A/3T because her success rate is so high.

Up to 2013, she had 20 ratified at 91% success rate for her 2A3T, her 3 jump combination had 19 ratified at success rate 86%

She made it look so easy and out of a spread eagle too, plus it was later on in her career when she still kept landing perfect 3Lz-3Ts, I am not worthy

My friend who attended the FS portion of 2013 Worlds told me the 2A in her 2A-2T-2Lo combo was massive, she had great axel technique

I attended that event myself, and watched everything. Let me tell ya something more, not only she had great axel technique.
All her jump successful rate is 90%+ in that event, she was the only skater who skated whole run-through(with full set of jumps) in every practice session. There is actually a perfect clean LM practice clip at that event available on youtube.
Her consistency is the highest among all ladies in that event. second is Zijun, third is Gracie. Carolina and Mao is no where close.
Even until today, Yuna still remains the most impressive skater I have ever watched in person in terms of the quality of practice sessions. that includes Russian wonderbabies.

I wish I was present at 2013 Worlds to watch her skate! Her consistency is incredible, and her jumps are wonderful.

I just found that Yuzuru earned 11 10s in his NHK FS PCS, then I was curious how many 10s Yuna got for her LM, ONLY 5:con3:. I guess Yuzuru set a new record in the most 10s in PCS, and beat Yuna again.
EDIT:
poor Yuna, but I still love you more!:luv17::love::o:

Oh i counted 6 for LM. Hanyu is skating at home... it is like as if Mao doing back to back clean with 3As, 3f3loop, not flutz, Gracie landed 3A combos and Jason Brown did 2 quads in his FS or Adelina did 7 clean triples and no flutz at Russia nationals... their score is naturally going to be astronomical!!!!

I'd be seriously impressed if Hanyu can replicate what he did today at the big events elsewhere... especially if you have maybe some crowds and judges against you. Then the next test and trial begins...

You know what, OS, if Yuzuru won second OGM at 2018, he will for sure beat Yuna at OGM count as well.
But I will still love Yuna more. Yuna is the special one for me forever:o::biggrin:
One thing that could comfort me a bit is that. if Yuzuru beats all Yuna's record e.g. OGM count in the future.
But Yuna's 2014 Sochi experience, nobody can replicate, it is a silver medal, but it is really rare for Google to change the search code for a figure skater.

I still remember that moment from Google  I don't know which was better, that it changed her name from Yuna Kim to Yuna Queen, or that it changed her "silver" to "gold"

yes, that is precious and hilarious. I think what Google did back then is only change her name to Yuna Queen, medal color is still silver. I doubt I will witness Google change code for another skater in my life again.

Yes, even if she made a mistake it never took from a performance. Meltdowns were as alien to her as dancers are to weightlifters. Also agree with another commenter; whenever she did win it was never in doubt. Maybe her scores but never her win. How many of the top tier skaters ever to skate can make that claim?
