Dude, what the heck, you've completely taken things out of context with what I said on that post. There was no reference to a skater's 'entitlement' on that post either. When I said the whole Yuna 'putting other skaters in their place', I wasn't being literal. Jeeez it was just an expression because she usually gets good results, most especially in her comeback performances during the 2012-2013 season. It was very noticeable that when she was away, every other skater had the chance to get to the podium at least especially those skaters who seldom gets one. It was like a level-playing field because she's not there. But when supreme-skating-skills-level Yuna Kim is there, she goes right at the top and PUTTING EVERY ONE IN THEIR RIGHTFUL PLACES next to her. That was all I was trying to say.
 
^^I understand what you meant mate, with the comeback of Yuna at 2013, the on-going inflation of scores at the time get tamed. I think this is what you meant, and I agree. With Yuna's comeback, the judges had a comparison and a benchmark (and at the time, they haven't started the whole sochi scandal thing yet, in which the majority of judges decided to establish something new, since Yuna will retire afterwards). I understand that you didnot mean to belittle any skaters. But this a public forum, not only Yuna fans will visit this thread, you need to be prepared that you words been picked or twisted its meaning and be clear/smart/subtle about your wording. I don't know what inflation you could've possibly seen. Scores were significantly lower for several skaters post-Vancouver. They only went up when Yuna came back tbh.

This is her fan thread so we ubers can praise her all we want (as a lot of us do). But that doesn't mean we should be polarizing to the rest of the skating community or make this thread unpleasant for casual fans.

TSL's interview with David Wilson, the portion on Yuna. Absolutely wonderful. Loved his honesty and passion.

I know many of Yuna's fans may not agree with him on the last part, on being "disappointed", but I get where he's coming from. I think it's hard to understand where Yuna wanted to go with skating after her competitive career- it's got to be exhausting after the Korean media constantly on her back, with all the pressure and expectations every moment. At least for now, I think Yuna wants to support skating in a more quiet way- help skating grow in her own home country. She probably just needs some more time off the ice. I love the relationship that she and David has.
 
I just saw the interview. Nice insights from her choreographer. I somehow feel the same way as David Wilson on thinking that Yuna could've done more in skating. She's such a special talent that the world needed to see more. Her technical perfection balanced with her innate musicality is what's needed to be seen by the new generation.

But it's not my body and mind so I still respect Yuna's decision. I also appreciate her support in the skating community even if it's just now off ice.

Anyway, I really appreciate this interview! It's so...refreshing? :laugh: to hear him lay down the truth about Yuna. Let's be honest, don't we Yuna fans wish that she take a more active approach to skating after retiring? I do!

I know that she does not owe us anything. Nadah! BUT with the talent, the charisma, the star power, the fandom, and the money (let's face it, that's a given now - you need to finance the shows and she has the moolah and the sponsors), how can she not continue skating at least in shows or do something more elaborate than that?!?! Like what?!?!!? Anyway, such are moot point. I do feel glad that she is still giving back to the sport via supporting events and such. David's way of speaking about this did rub me off somewhat in the wrong way since in the end, she doesn't owe us and him anything after all. He just sounded so selfish but I found myself understanding his sentiments. In honesty, I would feel the same if a student of mine who I spent hours with and dedicated myself to do his/her best just fizzle out in the end. It probably hurts him more since he was so close to her and he knows that he could've done something better about it.
Anyway, my conclusions at this part: I am a selfish fan and I also want to see my true FS queen skate gloriously and transcend herself to higher heavens. :devil:

Another part that I found interesting is his honesty towards Sochi LP event. I'll be honest- I kinda dreaded this part just because of the possible bias that may come into play. But I didn't dread it at all. Maybe only on the solo 3Lz part since I do think it was on the passable UR parameters :biggrin:. I do wished that he talked about her Send in the Clowns program because of its probable poignancy and importance in her career. It's like the story of the song and its background somewhat mirrors what happened in her career.

The interview was pretty interesting to watch. At first, I was a bit annoyed by what he said in the second half, but now thinking of it, it's understandable. Like what sunnystars said, it would really feel disappointing if something you've worked on had ended earlier than expected. It's sad that Yuna probably may not even be doing ATS anymore. But as a Yuna fan, I will always try to support her in whatever she does. :)

Also, it was also too bad that they didn't get to ask a lot of questions. It seems like Jenny and Dave did plan a lot of questions, but since David kept going on and onto the next thing, they missed the opportunity.
 
You get the feeling, in the interview (he's so animated!) how much he loves skating and how much hope he had in Yuna and he loves her so much. His ideal life-path for her turned out to be completely different from what she wanted for herself.
For him the ultimate life is a life full of skating and for her, there are other things to do and to be.

What a wonderful, wonderful interview with David Wilson! Wow! I love it!

David is an incredible interviewee (? does that word exsist?)! he's outright honest and what he says grabs your interest because he's such a personality.

He was able to put in words what I felt about Yuna's skating. That she feels and hears the music in another way. That she is never too late or out of sync with her music. She does not only skate to the music, when she skates, she IS the music. Very hard to explain. But an incredible rare talent, that I miss in all other skaters (except maybe Guillaume cizeron ;)

Also love the part when David talks about how it has been for him when yuna and brian parted and their road to the olympcs, his role at the olympics, how he felt, how going back to korea has affected yuna's skating. - I agree with him here 100%. She didn't give face in 2013 and 2014.
And while I cringle at the thought of overdone facial grimasses, it really was one of my two tiny nitpicks of yuna's performances in 2013 and 2014 that she didn't emote as much with her face as she did for example in 2009. (the othe nitpick were her costumes in 2014 being too subdued)

And of course his opinion to how he had hoped for yuna to have more longvity in skating! I wish this interview would have been longer than 47 min :laugh:

Best TSL interview along with their Ashley interview a few years ago for me!

Westerners feel superior when it comes to facial expressions. It's kind of annoying to me. His comments about asian students and mothers sounds dangerous. I didn't know he could be such a racist.

David wilson is not ATS. Choreographer is not the main character. I think Yuna could decide to do the show without wilson.

Even if we say that David is supposedly lying, we still don't know what happened between Yuna and Orser. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO KNOWS WHAT TRULY WENT DOWN IN THE FIGHT ARE YUNA AND ORSER.

Until both people dishes the truth, we have nothing but the rumours (like this elaborate blog) and the eventual disappointment.
