Yuna Kim

Guys I'm sorry to bother you but I have two questions,

Did Yuna finish her graduate school? I couldn't find a definite info about this (or probably missed it).
Also, is it likely for anyone to release a DVD collection of their figure skating programs? I would like to have a collection of Yuna's figure skating programs as well as the music she used. (I did make my own "DVD collection" but it would be totally cool to have it official.)

IDK about her education (I didn't know she was doing grad school!).

DVDs probably won't be released, because they'd have to deal with release forms for the songs. Maybe even give royalties? Probably won't happen.

Yuna and Mao have ruined ladies' figure skating for me!

She went to grad school in preparation for 2018 Olympics iirc. Just didn’t hear anything about graduating LOL. Was just curious.

Also didn’t think about royalties. I guess I have to settle with my downloaded yt clips. She just has too many rewatchable programs that we could appreciate more with no commentaries.

Ditto on Yuna and Mao! Everytime I watch ladies skating I just can’t help but go back and watch their clip and could see how different they are. Especially Yuna, her programs just...linger.

Just saw this on instagram and remembered how much I liked “mad” Yuna.. [emoji23] I don’t think I’ve ever seen her like that before or after. Sochi was truly special. [emoji23]

For those who don’t know, Yuna had a hard time during the SP warm-up because she was in a earlier group, she struggled to get her jumping passes. Surprisingly enough she didn’t act cool, she let it show. She looked like “those b* tchss won’t get out of my way!! they won’t even make top 10 and they won’t let me land my 3-3s?? so annoying!” LMAO [emoji23]
I feel guilty but I have to admit that warm up is kind of funny with Yuna losing it(just a little bit).

WOW she looks so mad. :D Haha. But those girls weren't even jumping, they're just skating around right as she's setting up the jump. I'd be annoyed too.

I remember NBC showing a clip of the irritated Yuna which I find so endearing but I haven't seen this full clip. She even rolled her eyes here. :laugh2:

She's like a walking meme  This is so far from Hersh's image of sphinx-like expressionless.

Apparently there's another All That Skate show coming this 2018. Should I bet against all odds for Yuna to at least show there or nah?

I think she will totally show up, say a few words, etc etc.
To skate? Never! lol

I’m looking forward to the young skaters! Eunsoo and You Young will probably participate. [emoji7]

LOL at least it's something to look forward to! Hope they won't cancel this time *crosses fingers*

Eunsoo and Young participated in 2016 so I expect them to be here as well :luv17:

This. I can't blame Yuna for wanting out of FS forever. Sometimes your love for something can be overpowered by too many injustices. I blame corruption for draining one of the best athletes we have ever seen.

The reason why I hate Sochi results was not because Yuna won silver. If she would have won that in a fairer situation, it's more than okay. But the thing is, it was her last stage and they robbed her. It was more the injustice than the color of the medal. Seeing Hanyu and Tessa and Scott become two-time Olympic champions, I can't help but feel sad because Yuna should have been a two-time Oly champ as well and the first one in many many years at that.

Yuna has much more corruption to deal with than just the Sochi results. Even though she is so famous and beloved among Koreans, she was caught up in the scandal with the former South Korean president who was impeached. She allowed corrupt “friends” and associates to run a lot of the country’s athletic programs. From the best anyone can tell, Yuna wanted no part of it (it is speculation, but there are videos of her refusing to hold Park Geun-hye’s hand). Some shady things happened, like people not being allowed to vote for Yuna in favorite athlete polls, etc. She also had her private life (boyfriends, break ups) used by the media to deflect attention from political scandals. I’m glad she not only got to have the Olympics in her own country, but she also got to have them without Park Geun-hye’s corruption still taking a toll on her. Hopefully her impeachment will also positively affect the younger crop of South Korean skaters.

Yuna made the right choice to build the foundation of fs in Korea by giving young skaters the support that wasn’t there when she was starting. There are some who thought that she would have provided more for fs if she continued to skate and be professional skater. But for me that would be a fragile foundation, since everything would still stand on her shoulder. And when she’s gone, the foundation would collapse. But by stepping aside and giving support to younger skaters, working seriously in the background, she’s laying foundation on different corners. This time, fs in Korea just doesn’t stand on her shoulder. The youngsters may not replicate her career (which is honestly difficult to replicate by everyone), but they will continue what she started. She is truly a trailblazer.

I honestly think she is happier now than when she was skating. I feel now that she’s not alone. So although I still have this lingering hope that she may skate someday, I am happy for her and what she’s doing now. When she retired she kept saying that she wanted to do lots of stuff, like travelling. Yet after 4 years her life still mostly revolved around figure skating. So really, despite all the controversy and corruption surrounding her life, her love for figure skating is genuine. I think that’s what keeps her going.

What happened in Sochi will always be a bittersweet part of our experience as Yuna fan, but we can focus on the sweet part, which is that she got two cleaned programs and got a silver. She ended her career in a high note. Even left with a bang. And it’s not like she will be remembered as a figure skater, it’s how she is difficult to forget.
