Yuna Kim

Have to agree, though I did enjoy the stuff he did for Junhwan and parts of Mai's and Marin's free skates. If Yuna continues to use Wilson, I'm hoping it'll start inspiring him once more. You can't expect greatness when both are still just getting back into the game. Baby steps!:dance3:

Also beautiful art jenm!

It seems like she's the only who cares enough to provide enough pop and lock in the finale. And I'm here wanting to yell at the youngsters, why are you letting Yuna down with your sloppy dancing?
That's what always stands to me about Yuna - a complete dedication to everything she does. :) I enjoyed the finale more than the performance, too, (Yuna focus, of course :D ) and I agree with the people saying it was a bit flat, but given the circumstances, it was fine and I was thrilled to see her. May it be the start of something more long term, that's all I can hope for.

regarding Yuna's program

it's not a complicated one like we're used to seeing these days but that's the thing about Yuna, she can have only a month of training after years of absence and still turn simple steps into something that moves people.
i say QUEEN OF COMEBACKS!!!! :))))

Here is the quick interview they showed during the intermission. I don't understand a thing but there's a little gem there around 2:37 :laugh2:

Now that the new the rules are out for the season, if anyone wants to recalculate Yuna's programs just for fun...

ETA: According to this article, Yuna decided to show three different dresses as a thank you, as well as an apology, for her fans who've waited for so long for her comeback. :sad21:

That's a very heartfelt gesture, and the three dresses are all lovely.

exactly, many can do those simple steps but not many can weave those simple steps as otherworldly as Yuna can. indeed "Phantom Thread".

but good thing about this easier program is that now many young skaters(or adult skaters) not even need to be at the elite level can try to mimic the choreo in this program, skate to this music and feel as beautiful as Yuna:luv17::love::o:

actually think about it, it is a great way to popularize figure skating. simple programs that every skaters can do but still beautiful.

this maybe the official ATS version of Yuna's "House of Woodcock" the little floral white princess dress is featured. I love the stage effect so much, the lighting moves like piano notes and the ethereal mist.

This is beautiful... thank you.

It will be very interesting to see if this music gets adapted by anyone else upcoming season. It requires an innate purity, grace, maturity, subtlety and sensitivity, not many can carry it off with the COP requirements where there are more obvious music choices that do half of the work for you already, so you can focus on the elements.

I am thinking maybe Marin or possible Satoko? but none will carry the gravitas Yuna have done, partly because of her life experience and successes where she has already carried with herself.. also partly because at this period of her skating life that happens to match the spirit of the film, where it is about bringing forth majestic meticulous couturing, the mildest detailing, refining aesthetics something few bother to do unless you have developed as much body of work, and developed a philosophy/approach to the work as she has done. Streamlined or Flash, when to be subtle, when to be passionate, when to be personal, when to be editorial etc... curating and refining her masterpiece.

Ha! I was actually thinking the same thing. Maybe it's not good for a Long Program, but it could work wonders if someone would make an SP for this particular music, and maybe accompany it with a more dissonant LP. To be honest, the first skater I thought of who can do this music justice was Mao Asada, but she's also retired. Maybe not on Singles, perhaps Pairs? I'm pretty sure if given proper choreography, Sui/Cong can do this piece justice as well. This music is really not grandiose, and it was used in the movie to highlight the everyday routine of someone who is well established in the field of work he's working into, so I agree that someone who's been in the sport for so long may be the only pool who can work on this. Osmond has a particular skating style that doesn't work well with this kind of music but it would be interesting to see if she picks this up and do a program for it, as a vehicle for her artistic growth. I am thinking Karen Chen has the sensibility to capture the subtlety and intricacy of this music.

If someone would make an SP for this particular music, it will be really challenging. Every upper-body movement will be compared to Yuna's ethereal one. Who can do that?

I just saw this now but AT Sports released a short clip for ATS 2018 that include some practice sessions and I couldn't be happier than seeing Yuna practice on ice again with her trademark laugh, and with Wilson by her side. I really miss this. So nostalgic.

That's probably the only place where you can get them. It seems like the link is just broken; since the result for the SP for the same event is up.

I just remembered this is the event where she had that very hard fall on her 3Lo in the SP. :sad21:
