I'll never forget last season, seeing it for the very first time, and what I said (which should be in the archives btw) ~ Mao Asada doesn't have a chance in H-E-(double L's) ~ might as well concede the Olympic Title to her then & there. Seriously, I haven't seen that type of personality on ice since one of my all-time favorites, Oksana Baiul; both are able to entrance the judges & audiences with their overall character on the ice. But what makes Yuna Kim so great is she also has the technical to back it up. This is why I say she has it all. And therefore will rightfully beat every girl that comes along.

So I say once again nobody else has a chance in H-E-(double L's). I would honest to God just concede the next World Titles to her, even the next Olympic Title, as there is absolutely nobody on the planet that can compete with her artistry & technical. And rightfully so. Not Mao, even at her best she doesn't have Yuna's personality on the ice nor consistency, nor any of the Americans (lol), nor any of the Europeans. She wins hands down over & over & over again ad infinitum.

The judges have spoken, they put her on another plane, another planet all together. Anything she does will be a masterpiece. She will dominate like Michelle Kwan did, but even better, she won't give the other gals a chance, they can't even come close, her point total doesn't leave any doubts that no one will be able to catch her, especially after 2011 Worlds where she will break her old score.

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN, YUNA, KIM, WHOM WILL DOMINATE FOR AS LONG AS SHE STAYS IN THE GAME, WHICH I HOPE WILL BE UNTIL THE NEXT OLYMPICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bow: (and this is the honest to God truth imho, not being facetious, I just have a gut feeling)

Having suffered too much Mao let down this year, are you alright? Are you ok? Have you been reading too many reverse psychology books lately?

Well, may be it is time to read more re-reverse psychology books, just to balance things out a bit, you know -- life is about balance after all. (just saying ;))

Hardly any ladies in history have skated a 6-triple program. And it's always not smart to write-off juniors before even giving them a chance to prove themselves. One of Yuna's biggest advantages is her clean technique. The Russian juniors, especially Liza, has great technique which will help her through her growth spurt.
 
If you wonder why we don't see 6-triple programs often...compare the old and new rules.

OLD 6.0... The best strategy was to execute 7 jumping passes clean...plus...some facinating moves
that would impress the judges and audience.

NEW COP...Skaters must try their best...not only jumps but also spins, spirals and step sequence.
cop consists of 7 jump passes, 3 spins, a spirals and a step sequence.

Skaters must spin their brain while perfoming...counting revolutions for the spins and counting seconds
for each of their spirals position for more points.

It is extremely difficult for a skater to concentrate to all 12 elements and perform flawless.
I didn't see any perfect programs other than Yuna's Olympic performance under the COP RULE.

I understand your admiration of YuNa, Nadine, and I share it, but I don't think we can slight Mao, especially in terms of on-ice personality. She's a wonderful skating actress, and her jumps are just, as Kurt Browning once said, on vacation. I'm just saying.

Myself, I'm thrilled that we have two great lady skaters to enjoy in the present, rather than sometime in the misty past. My fingers are crossed for YuNa to surface at Worlds still at her peak, and for Mao to recover her jumps and join YuNa in their splendid rivalry.

Interesting, I never thought of Mao as an actress. I felt Peggy Flemming description was spot on when she said Mao uses her body as an instrument. Rather than through her face, as an actress usually does, Mao expresses her emotions through the whole body.

Thanks for reminding me of that quote, Miki88. It's a lovely one! I have to say, I think of an actress as using not just her face but her body and movement as well. But you and I can agree that she's extremely expressive and musical. Lucky us!

Thanks, Prettykeys. It's true; and it's especially true for both of these skaters, who are pure gold no matter the color of their medals. Neither of these splendid ladies is ever diminished by a compliment given to the other. For the record, I can't wait to see YuNa skate her new programs this season.
 
Olympia, I think that's what makes figure skating awesome. It's not a race, where you can directly compare athletes and declare one person unequivocally "the best." In something like racing, whoever was the fastest may lay claim to being the best. On the other hand, great figure skaters aren't all alike. There is room to for individual focus on various aspects of it - jumps, spins, blade control, flexibility, carriage and overall body awareness, personality, etc. Figure skaters can focus on any combination of these things.

Since CoP, there is a scoring system, but we all know that the scoring rules and standards have changed over time and that the relative weights of different elements have changed, and there are many aspects of it that remain unscored.

So, I agree with you completely--complimenting one skater for his/her particular strengths doesn't necessarily diminish the wonderful qualities of another skater. :)

Joannie and Miki are in the same class skaters.
When they are on...really on.

Joannie beat Yuna once at skate canada in 2006...GOLD:Joannie , SILVER:Fumie , BRONZE:Yuna
Miki beat Yuna once at Tokyo Worlds in 2007........GOLD:Miki , SILVER:Mao , BRONZE:Yuna
I really loved Yuna's expression on her face right after the free program...GENUINELY DISAPPOINTED but NO CRYING...afterTRYING HER BEST with BACK INJURY.

I've just read a news article saying Yuna's Galaxy tab commercial theme song "Super Girl" is for sale! The article also mentioned all profits derived from its sale will be used for furthering public benefits.
