The Compulsory Dance (CD) of the event was the Viennese Waltz, which was created by the Eric van der Weyden and Eva Keats. It was first performed in 1934 at the Streatham Ice Rink in London.
The brother-sister team of Madison Hubbell and Keiffer Hubbell (Ann Arbor FSC) placed first in the CD with 34.61 points.
The team felt they did as well as they could have hoped.
“Since we train in an Olympic-sized rink at home, it’s always harder to fit our (compulsory) patterns into an NHL-sized rink,” explained Keiffer. “But we handled it more gracefully than in previous years.”
Piper Gilles and Timothy McKernan (Broadmoor SC) finished second with 30.97 points, followed by Pilar Bosley (Peninsula SC) and John Corona (Philadelphia SC & HS) with 30.07 points.
Madison Chock (All Year FSC) and Greg Zuerlein (Arctic FSC) are currently fourth (29.92 points).
