The current format (team event) was established in 2006 and is the competition is held every autumn in Japan. Invited skaters compete in the disciplines of men's and ladies' singles. 2023 World Figure Skating Championships The 2023 World Figure Skating Championships will take place March 20-26, 2023, in Saitama, Japan, at the Saitama Super Arena. Worlds is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. The 2021–22 Japan Figure Skating Championships (第90回全日本フィギュアスケート選手権大会) will take place Dec. 23-26, 2021, at the Saitama Super Arena. Medals will be awarded to the top three skaters/teams in each of the four disciplines.
