    Cliff Notes 08/09 Programs

This is all the information we have so far. I've grouped in by discipline, and in alphabetical order by last name within discipline. For pairs and dance, it is the lady's name that I have used to order the listing.

So feel free to post what I've missed, but I think this thread should be kept short and to the point. Discussion is best kept in the other thread.

I'm going to sticky this thread so we'll have it to refer to throughout the season.

BTW, for those that don't know, there's a Search option on all GS threads.

Please Post Only Names and Programs Here! Discuss on the other thread.

I gotta say something here as a devoted Anastasia fan:

THOMAS Newman did not compose Anastasia. His brother, David Newman, wrote the score, but the songs (which include Once Upon A December) were composed by Stephen Flaherty w/ lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.

Also the bit about The Piano... wasn't Chopin's Nocturne in C# Minor featured in The PianIST?

Just one more tiny note, the Horner cue you refer to "3200 Years Ago" is from Troy by James Horner. Are they combining this with Gladiator? That would be... interesting...

anya_angie, I am not sure what you are talking about. Which skater's programs are you referring to? I will be happy to correct any that are not right. If you're referring to Diane Szmiett's program "Once Upon a December", the information that 'T. Newman' either composed or performed it is taken from her ISU biography. Is that the one?

A number of different skaters are performing to pieces by Chopin. The movie is "The Piano" not "The Pianist", as far as I know. It does have an alternative title of "The Piano Lesson"

    http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/1199...Piano/overview

    Which skater?

Okay, I've seen The Piano Lesson but not The Piano as of yet, I adored The Pianist and since that was the piece that got the most attention from that film, that's why I thought that there might have been a typo or mistake. I will post that info on filmtracks' message board (I am getting a bunch of them interested in skating by telling them what skaters are using this year). Yeah, I was referring to Diana S of Canada. If that info was gotten from ISU, they are sorely mistaken, as Thomas is certainly not the only Newman composer, but he is the more famous of the two (multiple-time Oscar nominee, whereas David only had one which was for Anastasia).

Thanks again and glad you helped!
