Just watching the videos (before reading scores/protocols) I thought that my ranking for the PCS was:
1) Chen
2) Medvedeva
3) Chartrand
4) Siraj
5) Sotskova: she really didn't impress me, artistically, I think that I need to watch her program again to understand these "high" scores, because I frankly thought that her program was very weak in the PE, CH and IN areas (in the 4.00-5.00 range), I just got the feeling "jump-generic skating-spin-jump-steps..." that I get watching low-elvel skaters... (maybe I'm simply wrong and when I watch the video again, I'll say "Wow, that's wonderful!")
Nice competition, technically, though: what a shame for Medvedeva's SP, the skaters in the top3 really skated great programs!
Disagree about Sotskova. I thought Sotskova's choreography was more coherent and she moved with way more polish and finished off her moves better. Better carriage too. Medvedeva has beautiful spins but came across quite frantic, particularly during the awkward step sequence which seemed to last forever. Medvedeva smiled more, but Sotskova appeared to have some real musicality and dance training. Don't know if I liked Chen that much. A lot of all-out movement and not much restrained passion which is crucial to flamenco. Probably quite good for her age but for a 13-year-old girl to do Flamenco the expression just seemed put-on. I think Sotskova was my favourite of the top three. I kind of miss the Siraj from a couple of seasons ago. Her jumps also seem to just get worse with age
