Again, I'm not going to be able to watch. This segment doesn't even start until midnight and, much as I love figure skating, there is no way I'm staying up that late. I can't even remember the last time I stayed up to midnight, never mind beyond it.

This was supposed to be a repeat of last night's post. But, after seing the results of the SP, I have to add something.

How great is it to see Jojo Hong in 4th position, less than 2.5 points behind the leader?! I always love to see skaters from countries not normally associated with figure skating doing well.

Oh, it would be so amazing if she could get on the podium. Have we ever had a Kiwi win a medal at an international competition?

EDIT: Jojo got the Senior Ladies Bronze Medal at the Coupe de Printemps in March. And Morgan Figgins won medals of all colours at Novice Level in the mid-noughties. But I don't know about anybody else.​

There seems to be a fair amount of representation from countries not usually 'big' in figure skating at this competition and it's nice to see. Phi, Mex, NZL, etc.

Yes good recovery for the axel! After that last hard fall she looked so demoralized, I'm glad she's still pushing through anyway.

Jumps were not her friend today but she had good choreography and she responded to the music. She looks like a better skater then we saw today.

Oh kid... the way she just sat on the ice leaning on the wall for a sec after the last two falls was rough. She was rubbing her neck briefly after she got off the ice, hope she's okay and it was just a reaction.
