2022 Denkova-Staviski Cup

The second of the two Turkish skaters in Group 3, Fatma İnci İNANÇ, is clearly a Zagitova fan.

Virtually the same edit of the "Don Quixote" music. Very similar dress.

The programme wasn't anywhere near as back-loaded, though.

She goes into 2nd, taking over the position from Ginevra CARRARO (ITA), who I meant to comment about. So, I'll do it now.

Ginevra skated to two versions of "Holding Out For A Hero". The first was the original by Bonnie Tyler. But, I didn't recognise the second version. It was really stripped back to basics. And, although very different to the masterpiece that is the original, I liked it!

Sorry this is late. I had the stream open and was waiting for it to spring into life. But, 06:30 came and went, and it still said it was waiting. So, I just thought the competition was running late. It was only when I saw the scores for the first skater appear that I decided to check the main channel page, and discovered that they were using a different stream to the one originally planned!

Consequently, I am now playing catch-up. And to think, I had my breakfast very early so as to avoid getting behind and having to catch up at the first resurfacing!

Day 2 starts with a Basic Novice triple-bill! A group of 8 boys, followed immediately by 31 Basic Novice II girls; then a resurfacing before the 31 Basic Novice I girls go out.

Because of the sheer number of girls and, consequently, the lengths of their segments, I will do 2 separate posts. Fortunately the resurfacings are in friendlier places than when we had a similar situation yesterday.

That was different.

You know how we regularly see people finishing after their music. Well, skater #6 finished her last spin, and then realised she was way ahead of her music. So, she just wandered around on the spot until just before the music ended, and then she went into her ending pose.

It was so surreal to watch.

The really strange thing is that she wasn't punished for it. Yes, the the livescoring page shows that she got a half-point deduction. But, that was for a fall that she had earlier in the programme.

Can I just say, I am delighted to see that Chiara HRISTOVA (BUL) is leading the Junior Ladies after the SP. I've really liked her for a few years now, and I just love her programmes for this season.

Incidentally, her wee sister was 6th in the Intermediate Novice FS yesterday. I think it was the first time I had seen Vayana in action, and I liked her too.

I´m really proud of her international senior debut! Winner of the FS and silver overall was more than I expected. I hoped for a bronze maybe

EC minimums was done easily on first try, and she was really close to WC minimum as well. Her TES was 52,98 in the FS. She missed the FS minimum there with 0.02 points She had two rather big mistakes in the beginning of the skate, double flip and popped the loop, she usually doesn´t pop the loop, so if she just went for it or even doubled it, she would have had it. But there will be more chances, and she for sure has the ability to do it, she is going to Andorra in about 2 weeks. Hopefully as senior (might do one more junior competition since she might want to be selected for JWC as well). In the SP she was 2 points away from WC minimums but she had a fall on the combo.
