Thanks for setting this up!

I was actually thinking after MKJW I would like to go, but I spent all my money on that so I don't think I can manage it. Not the tickets, just getting there!! I will buy the streaming pass instead.

Are there always 8 in advanced novice warm up groups? I've obviously not paid enough attention I have no idea.

Anyway good luck to all the youngsters today, hope everyone has great skates. I think those are Zoe Jones' daughters going back to back in the first group?

I think so. There were at the Bosphorus Cup this morning, anyway.

I don't like it. Too many people on the ice at once. I know the skaters are generally speaking smaller, but it still increases the chances of collisions.

As far as I am concerned, it should always be groups of 4, no matter the category or level.

Anyway good luck to all the youngsters today, hope everyone has great skates. I think those are Zoe Jones' daughters going back to back in the first group?

Drat! I didn't even look at the entry lists. By rights I should have had their Fan Fest ready for today, but I haven't had a chance to even start writing it! :drama:

Yep, the twins are going back to back at the end of Group 1.

All the best to them!

There doesn't seem to be working livescoring, so I'm going to wing it and guess that they are running to schedule. (I'm watching the Junior Ladies FS at the Bosphorus Cup).

Just popping in to wish all the best to my adopted "grandkids" (well, I adopted their mother a few years ago, so I guess that makes them my grandkids! ;) )

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ZINIA!!! :cheer:

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ZARAH!!! :cheer:

I know it's cool that the twins are going back-to-back, but this is going to be so hard on Zoe, as she can't be with both of them at once.

Livescoring is working now.

Zinia went into 3rd, and was immediately displaced by Zarah.

So at the end of Group 1, Zarah is lying in 3rd position, 1.86 points ahead of Zinia in 4th position.

At Novice level, deductions are half a point. So, it is interesting to see that Zarah had two deductions (1.00 point), while Zinia had one deduction (0.50 points).

EDIT: They finished up 6th and 8th, with local girl Isla SHENTON (SHE) splitting them.

:cheer: WELL DONE GIRLS!!! :cheer:

Looks like Zarah's deduction was actually a time violation. Whoops!

I've bought my streaming pass so when I'm not meant to be working I will enjoy watching it back haha

Now that the Advanced Novices have got their Short Programmes done, it is time for the Juniors to do the same. 24 girls and then 12 boys, with a resurfacing after every 12 skaters.

Livestream for the Junior Ladies SP is now on air.

What?! So at Novice level a time violation gets you a bigger penalty than a fall?! That's crazy! :drama:

I did think that it looked funny that the one that appeared to have had two falls finished two places above the one with just one fall. Because, as we all know, a fall doesn't just earn you the compulsory deduction; it also earns you minus marks from the Judges, minus GOE, etc.

But now that I know that it was a time violation rather than two falls, everything makes sense. Because a time violation wouldn't have any further impacts like a fall does. It is just -1 point, and that's that.

Nevertheless, she'll have to be more careful with her timing in future.

Thank you so much for pointing out what happened.  :points:

:thank:

It does seem a bit silly to penalize that more. You'd think they'd have deductions all the same.

I remember Arabella having pretty spins from the JGP, so I hope she has a good skate!

Freddie's SP music does make me laugh  good skate for him.

Just to note if you buy the streaming pass and can't figure out where your streams are - you just click on the day you want, even though it says 'Day pass 6.99' at the top. No doubt other people will figure that out easily but it took me a minute

Unfortunately the first two groups dropped off the stream so I haven't been able to watch everyone yet. My impressions so far -

Managed to catch Daria's skate before it disappeared and it was great, full of energy and she really performed.
Isla Shenton was the only skater in advanced novice girls with all +ve GOEs. I don't know if she's the youngest there but she certainly looked the youngest in her group and it was a lovely skate.

Lloyd Thomson looks very promising, nice triple lutz, and despite his PCS not being very high he was actually pretty committed to his music and it was fun. Also seemed like a bit of a Yuzu tribute haha.

Of the junior ladies, Alexa Severn was especially lovely, lots of nice performances, and shout out to Saskia, great programme music and she just looked joyful all the way through, really made me smile!

Junior men had some great performances, top 4 were all pretty clean (top 2 all +ve GOEs! Hooray) I actually really liked Arin Yorke, and he looked really happy with his skate so congrats to him, I will be looking out for him from now on.

Excited to see how everyone does today. It looked like they had some school kids watching the advanced novice which was nice, wish they could get more in and fill the arena a bit more! It looked so empty at times I wondered where all the proud grandparents were.

Can somebody who was watching fill us in on why there was a long pause to proceedings during the girls?

I was worried that somebody had maybe got injured, but I'm relieved to see that there weren't any withdrawals. So, I take it there were technical problems of some kind.

The upshot is that we are now running over half an hour behind the schedule. So, this is going to be good craic, me trying to put up reminder posts at the start of segments going solely by the livescoring pages!

And on that note, I see that the boys page has finally sprung into life, so I better get to it!
