you would've told me years ago about a french team winnig 2 worlds and a silver or a bronze at olympic games i would've signed right away. Because of their talent they made us greedy.
now people can't stop critized them, even before they do stuff like people are already saying that they won't be good at next year sd. why saying that?
i was in Marseille and i'm sorry but virtue and moir program is beatable. yes tessa is a wonderful dancer but so is gabriella and scott is also good but guillaume is just in another level. they move, dance the same way. it's such a priviliged to see them skate.
so yes medals and tittles aren't all that's matters. in two months i want a true fair fight, i don't want the tech judges to be french or canadian. i want the best team that day to win.

Yes, Anna put her foot down during the first set of twizzles. It was strange to see the scoring because any mistake there is usually a huge deal in the marks.

But, P/C skated very well and deserved another European title. I thought they skated very well here today. Personally I prefer the programs from the 2 previous years, maybe it's a case of similar programs each year (which is fine, they own this style) , but it's still a wonderful program. They are beautiful skaters who just flow through every move. They are in a class of their own for sure.

I was in the arena behind the technical panel and honestly, they had mad discussions for the last 3 couples B/S, C/L and P/C.
The big mistake of Anna during the first set of twizzles was completely obvious for everyone in the arena or watching on TV. When C/L performance was over, then we looked permanently the tech panel and.... well... Roxane (French, Tech Specialist Assistant) was fighting against Ponoramenko (Russian Tech Specialist) and of course Cesaro (Italian Tech Controller).
How this Russian "Tech Specialist" could give a level 4 to twizzles with such a big mistake? And how this italian Tech Controller could validate a level4???
BTW, there were also some stumbles in C/L program and it sounds like none of them were penalised.

Since the beginning and even more in the 2 days before the FD, we could clearly feel this weird atmosphere around the rink.

As far as I know, the story of the additional lift already made a lot of noise in Geneva and a very bad publicity for the ISU. Given the FD results, I would certainly not mind if some exclusions were decided by the ISU for the next 2 years or so. For what is at stake here is the credibility of the ISU and moreover of Figure Skating as a sport.

And BTW, big thanks to Roxane! She was more likely the only official in this Tech Panel to be fair and honest!

Well, the situation was clear. Ponomarenko and Roxane were in complete disagreement hence Ponomarenko called Cesaro who was in situation to either agree with him or with Roxane. And be SURE Roxane never suggested a level 4 for C/L twizzles!!

I know it's weird but have you ever tried watching programms WITHOUT music and for exemple focusing on the step sequences ? I did that to compare V/M and D/W at the time and you could see that V/M steps were better, with deepest edges.
Do that with P/C, V/M, Shibs, C/L etc. You will get the difference with the knee bend, and you won't really understand why some teams scores the same on a step sequence

Also 114, really ? This was miles better than at GPF honestly... This king of scoring really confuses the skaters. how can we expect them to be better if you mark the best performances lower than the others ?
I completely agree with V/M being first at the 2 previous competition of course (I really like them a lot too), but when I go through this forum, some people think that the Shibs could beat them, but how are the skating skills even comparable ? (No disrespect for the shibs, I really like them too but I am being realistic)
I don't want another case of Weaver/Poje who got left out despite being veeeery good. This is not about talk, when you see the reality, P/C are so good that judges placed them 1st in their 2014-2015 season while being unknown, and they shouldn't be closer to certain teams because they were beaten a couple of times.
Ice Dance should not be that political. May only the best win :agree:

Some people thought PC fan were a little too paranoid. But what Tatiana says is a little scary. She know better than us what happen now in ice dance and it's sad. And it's not patriotic Tatiana is not french.

What can we do as the public to diminish the influence of politics in ice dance? It's clear that this is a problem for the fairness of the results. I think our voice as the public should be heard. Ponomarenko's son, for example, is coached by Shpilband. I can suspect if he is judging Shipland's teams a conflict of interests. And such connections are everywhere in ice dance. And even if the political push doesn't come from the national level, there are such connections which can influence in a way or in another. And returning to anonymous judges as now does hurt the objectivity even more.

wait so you're saying p/c's skating skill is better than shibs? ummm I don't think skating skill is the thing that p/c is that much superior to the shibs. Cizeron is definitely great if we're talking about skating skill but i'm not sure about gabby. it's p/c's thread I don't wanna say bad thing about them, but in my opinion one of the biggest weakness of p/c is the gap between their skating skill, both v/m and shibs are wayyyy more balanced.

I would expect more from Ponomarenko, just because this was his sport and you would assume he, as an Olympic champion, would want it to have credibility, considering its past. I wonder what was his justification for giving a level 4... considering such a major error, obvious to all....

I did expect higher than 114 for P/C, to be honest... but as long as they won I am ok with it.

P/C are magical :) for me, at least, they are the best couple in the world right now and one of the greatest in all time. we are lucky to have them, to enjoy their art on ice, because it's not only skate, not even dance, it's pure art.

Of course we can have different opinion, but about what I said first : watch the step sequences without msuic, check th legs, extensions, edges : Gabby's are to die for and because Guillaume is too good as a dancer, I realize that we may not notice it.
But in terms of SS, I am just being realistic, the flow, the knee bend, it's better. Maybe are you thinking in terms of EXECUTION ? Shibs are always extremely clean that's their main strenght, but for example V/M not always and they have better SS.
I honestly say all of that objectively as I really like all these Ice dance couples. (The difference is in the style)

There seems to be a whole lot that goes into skating skills than just glide and speed, which I find many fans think is the only thing that matters in the SS mark.

Anyway, I think most people know who my favorite team competing is right now, and Virtue/Moir are my second favorite team of all time behind Klimova/Ponomarenko, which confuses things for me . That said, I don't think P/C need to be anyone's favorite team or that anyone needs to root for them to win competitions to be able to see just how amazing and excellent P/C are. That FD at Euros was simply magical and beyond what we normally see in this structured sport. They have rhythm, they have art, and they have magic with that FD. They are simply amazing and should have ran away with this title.

re post from the euro dance thread:

when i saw P/C program at the french master i found my favourite moment of the program after the third lift when guillaume is doing a solo spin and gabriella a twizzle since that i watched the program so many time and i always stop at that moment and i watch it again and again.
at euros it was just breathtaking. the audience applauded : it's not a lift, it's not the twizzle ssequence but it does feel like the hightlight of the dance.

I completely agree with you, I have a lot of team that I like a lot, that doesn't mean one should be above the other for no reason. The obvious is the obvious.
I already can't wait to see all of them at Worlds ! :yahoo:

Bravo to Gabriella and Guillaume for this magnificent third European title. Chapeau
I was a little afraid of these changes announced because I really liked the 1st version; but this evolution of the program does not bother me at all.:luv17: The lift where Guillaume finishes on his knees is top, it brings movement. I am always more than conquered. For me, the cohesion of the program is still there.
Concerning the modification of the music, I did not realize it ... they have a very hypnotic gift on me.
The notes could have been higher but I do not think we could expect better with the jury:drama:. I have no illusions: on the 4 continents scores will be much higher for several couples.
I am delighted for them, they must still be relieved by the result. They can be proud of them ... before getting back to work:devil:
If one wants to test their nerves it is successful.
For the world championships, they will have to be more than perfect technically, the least tiny error and it will be finished. In theory, I agree that a jury and a neutral panel are necessary, except that it is strictly impossible. Sincerely, if in the panel there is Hurth or Molina I will not cry ... the composition of the jury will also be important because the podium will be played on the ice and unfortunately also outside the ice.:scratch2:
