Since 2015 is almost over or over depending on where we are, I decided to make a post describing what our highlights for 2015 in terms of skating. Here are mine.
1. Jason Brown winning US Nationals.
2. Joshua Farris' beautiful "Give Me Love" SP from US Nats and the 4CC.
3. Ashley Wagner's lights-out FP at US Nationals.
4. Me watching the Ladies' FP for the 4CC on livestream after a busy day where I cheered at a double-header basketball game and drove home with my dad in semi-blizzard-like conditions.
5. Joshua Farris winning silver at 4CC.
6. Yuzuru winning silver at Worlds.
7. Javier winning Worlds.
8. Jason getting 4th at Worlds.
9. Liza becoming the first lady to land 4 triples in a SP.
10. Jason breaking pretty much all personal bests at the WTT.
11. Denis Ten winning bronze at Worlds.
12. Me watching the JPG on YouTube livestreaming for the 2nd year, but this time, paying attention more on who's skating. And me following the results during the one in Bratislava while in the car with my family driving 8 hours from Hot Springs, VA (Where we stayed for a few days at the Homestead for vacation for a few days) to Nashville, TN (To move my brother into college).
13. Me going to Skate America and seeing all events. It was an amazing weekend! And making hats for Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, Gracie Gold, Alaine Chartand, and Jason Brown. It went by like a blur, but oh my gosh.
14. Ashley Wagner's awesome performance at Skate Canada.
15. Boyang Jin making history as the first skater to land a quad lutz in combination and with positive GOE at CoC.
16. Alaine Chartrand skating her heart out in her SP at the CoR and getting a personal best of 67+ points!
17. Maxim Kovtun's SP at TEB. Yes. Don't judge me.
18. Yuzuru Hanyu breaking world records and becoming the first skater to break 200 points in a FP and 300 in an overall competition at NHK.
19. Becoming fans of Lorriane McNamara and Quinn Carpenter and Rachel and Michael Parsons. And then winning both there JGP assignments and taking gold and bronze respectively at the JGPF. They're going to be at the top in the future. Both teams. I can see it.
20. Yuzuru breaking all world records again at the GPF.
21. This technically isn't about a skater, but it was at the JGPF/GPF so I'm counting it: The announcer at the JGPF and GPF. Come on. He's the best ever.
22. Kevin Reynolds having two great skates at the Skate Canada Challenge and qualifying for nationals. I'm so proud of him. And he had a type of surgery that people say he'll never come back from. He proved them wrong. And his programs are awesome!
23. Me celebrating my first full calendar year as a skating fan.
24. Shoma Uno's awesome GP debut.
