About Adelina's "situation".

Maybe she will be able to win again. Yet I think it is normal, if Adelina doesn't want to say later: "I was a champion, then I was not successful for a few years, now I understand, that I am old and I should start working." We saw the test skates, but we know nearly nothing, we only know, that Russia has many strong girls.

If you want to know the truth about athletes, ask Yagudin. He says, that athletes are people without education, actually (in Russia, at least). They worked so hard in sport, that they even didn't know much about real life, they saw almost nothing. (it seems, the situation hasn't changed much) If these people don't become champions, it is really bad. If they are champions, their situation isn't much better.

The teachers don't see them frequently, when they study at school. Later most of the athletes study at special universities for athletes. As far as I understand, it means, that the teachers are not strict, they know, that for athletes the sport is more important than the education. It seems, all of the athletes become "coaches" there. Yet they don't become real coaches. Not all of them want to be coaches. This education is only better than nothing.

As for "money, money"... Adelina also has a sister, which is not healthy. Adelina says, that when the family needed money to help her sister, Vodorezova gave her own money, and Tarasova helped to get money.

Just expecting some respectful treatment as a fan, say how it's gonna be Adelina, please. :scowl:

I believe Adelina should think about her life and about her family, not about those people for whom her life is just a show. I think, that sometimes she doesn't know, what she is going to do.
I don't know what is the right way for her. I wish her good luck.

OK, about Adelina.

According to FSO, Galustyan (the guy to Tatiana's left) said...

šŸ˜Š Oh, Galustyan is a great skater! He is a humourist (a comedian), he was skating in the "Ice Age", later he was a judge not once. So Yagudin asks him:

Mikhail? Maybe about some elements, which impressed you?
Galustyan: Sure, the elements. I saw a "jackson" (Tarasova is very interested)...
Yagudin: "Jackson"? Is it a firm, which produces skates?
Galustyan: It is such an element. I'll explain to you later.
Yagudin: OK. Thank you.
Galustyan: As far as I know... Sasha did a double twizzle. (he means Alexander)
(everybody clap to Galustyan)
Galustyan: Yeah? I remember! Of course, it is nice, that a second life begins for Olympic champions after their sport life. It is nice, that Ilya Averbukh takes to his team the best athletes, and I'm sure, that Adelina will take a worthy place in this project, together with Alexander. I congratulate you and wish you good luck in the season. Well done!
Yagudin: I will correct you a little. Yes, Adelina has won the Olympic gold in our Sochi, but actually, Adelina's career isn't over yet. We are waiting for great victories from her. First of all, in our project.
Lenochka? (Yagudin means Elena Isinbayeva)

(pole-jumping, 2 Olympic Ch, has been elected on to the International Olympic Committee's athlete's commission)
Isinbayeva: I want to say, that in my opinion, Adelina and Alexander hasn't showed their abilities yet. But the pair is very promising. Naturally, Adelina is a professional, and it is not important, that she became a champion in the single skating. I'm sure she will impress all of us with her artistry. As for Alexander, I think he has some advantage, he was skating, even though those were hockey skates. You were a little bit separately today. Yet it is the first day, the judges shouldn't be strict. Sure, we are waiting for romanticism, for love stories, for some humour. You are young, you are energetic, you are very promising. You are one of those pairs, who can win. So I wish you good luck. Be brave. Forward! Don't be afraid of experiments. We will be enjoying.
Yagudin: Thank you, Lena.
Oksana, I remember some years ago we were participating in the "Ice Age" together with you, we were two single skaters. (Oksana Pushkina was his partner, she is a TV-host) Later we started to understand each other. We came to dialogues from monologues. (Pushkina waits, when Yagudin will shut up his mouth) I'm sure, that not a week later, but even earlier the guys will feel each other so well, that we'll see a really teamed up pair.

Pushkina: So... Lyoshenka (she means Alexei), I gave "6.0", because I know better than anybody, how difficult it is. And I saw how difficult it is for this pair. Adelinochka, you are definitely the flower of this project. Thank you, that you are here. Thank you, Ilya. "5.8", because I know, Adelinochka, how you can move, how you can dance. I am assured, that the girl in the pair is everything. In my case it was a man. In your case it is you. So there are new challenges ahead. Welcome to our world.

Yagudin: Dmitry, what will you say? (Kharatiyan is an actor)
Kharatiyan: I'll say... I gave "6.0", 6.0". Did you notice? (they laugh and clap) An awesome mastery of each of the partners. And they were good together, absolutely organic, for me. I believe they've dealt successfully with the task, and not only their future is bright, nowadays is wonderful too. I congratulate you. Thank you.
Yagudin: Thank you, Dmitry. Tatiana Anatolievna?

Tarasova: First of all, I congratulate us, that Adelina came to this wonderful project. Here you will learn a lot, baby. It seems to me, it will be useful for you, you will like it. You liked dancing (on the floor). We can expect anything from you, because when you were not taken to the team at the Olympics, you became a champion in the single skating, in ladies. (Alexander hugs Adelina) All the shows in the world are finalized by the ladies skating. Always a lady is the one who is skating after everybody. I hope you will feel really good here. I'd like to see you on the highest steps. (to Alexander: ) And you, young man, should work, as my dad used to say.

Mikheyeva: Guys, you are so good! I really liked your number. Now you praise each other!
Sokolovsky: I skate with Adelina Sotnikova, I am the most lucky!
Mikheyeva: Sure! Because Adelina is a fresh Olympic champion. Adelina, tell please, how do you like the pair skating? You are a single skater.
Sotnikova: It is absolutely another feeling. All my back was hurting after the first training. I am not used to hold my back like this, not used to move together in the figure skating. It is new for me. I will learn! It is better to learn something, to move along.
Mikheyeva: And how do you like to be a coach? Are you ready to coach the Russian team?
Sotnikova: (nearly laughs and is nearly crying) Well, Ilyusha helps us a lot. (she means Averbukh) And many others with whom we work help us too. Sometimes I advise Sasha (Alexander), but I wasn't skating in a pair, I don't know what is right. I learn too, I ask: "What I should do? With my arm? With my leg?"
Sokolovsky: Adelina is enough strict and demanding. So it seems to me, she can be an excellent coach, somewhen, after six Olympics.
Mikheyeva: Does Adelina torment you at trainings? Does she shout at you?
Sokolovsky: No, her voice is enough, and a tough tightening my hand. That's all. I understand. I am well schooled.

It is really good, if Adelina says "Ilyusha" about Averbukh. It should mean, that the contact with Averbukh is comfortable for her, that she nearly doesn't feel his age and etc. ("Ilyusha" is not as neutral as "Lyosha", it sounds more childish, like "Alyosha" or "Lyoshenka")

šŸ˜Š So... such a nice company: Ilyusha, Allochka, Lyoshenka, Lenochka... And only Tatiana Anatolievna is Tatiana Anatolievna.

Before adressing Galustyan, Yagudin speaks about the number and also says warmly:

"It is the first time, that Adelina holds someone's hand, when she is skating. Welcome to our project."

I'd say he is mocking. He is still not fond of whispering: "starting with the left leg!". Yet not only mocking. A single skater can stay alive, even if the partner is a really weak "skater" and is not obedient... Adelina has a good partner.

For Yagudin the ability to skate in a pair is also connected with the ability to live in a pair, to listen, to find a compromise. So... maybe he also promises, that it will be a really good experience anyway.

In one of the recent interviews Lakernik said that Adelina has back issues. So if she doesn't resolve those she might be able to compete at top level again. She uses Ice Age to get going and it's really good for her publicity. But honestly... to me... if she doesn't come back at the top of her lungs against other Russian ladies TESwise- there is no point of returning. I don't think she is that interesting as a competitor anymore.

I'd love to see that but I don't believe in this anymore. It's too late to gain the shape that would let her win over current field leaders. She had to gain it earlier. Just don't get me wrong- I don't hate her. I just think her competitive reign is over.

It doesn't matter what you believe or not
But you're basically saying at 20 you life is over and you're a granny. Poor Adelina, i hope she is looking for a good care home, before Yulia, Tukt and Medvedeva join her. :sad4:
Oh, and poor Leonova, where is her wheelchair

I think you underestimate Sotnikova. She is not in that "bad shape" as you like to think :confused2:

Its not like your life is over and you are a granny.
But, as in ANY profession, if you just sit out of it for a couple of years, you will be left behind and wonĀ“t be a top in your area anymore.
And each year that passes will make it harder.

For me, it is not related to age. For instance, see Pogorilaya ;) She may not be #1, but she fights for it and she looks like she will remain competitive for many more years. Still, somehow, you forgot to add her to your care home team ;)
See Alyona Savchenko, once more people may like and dislike, but nobody says "no chance, Alyona". Because she actually does stuff and people see she isnĀ“t done ;)

The judgement here is based on results, not on sheer age ^^

No, it was said "it's to late" for her, as if she were 50.
Adelina didn't compete ONE year. She competed last year but wasn't in best shape. She is active all the time, is doing ice show since the beginning of the year, and even if she won't compete this year at all, why does this make it impossible for her to come back stronger than ever and having good results? :scratch2:
She has the same chances as everyone else.
People just WANT her to retire, that's all

To get back to that Ice Age show...I thought Maxim Shabalin and his partner were pretty good for the first week! The costumes were nice, she actually did a bit of skating on her own and not only lifts. If they manage to add to that and improve, I think they have potential! :)

As for Sotnikova, Russian ladies is a bloodbath. It's not easy to make it out of the country. And as an Oly champ she has opportunities to make money right now, opportunities that won't be around forever. It seems like she has financial obligations, it's understandable if she wants to strike while the iron is hot. There's probably also the usual "I've won Olys, what now?" motivational slump that many ladies seem to have fallen into in the past as well and the fact that there was so much hostility and hatred directed towards her after her win.

I donĀ“t want her to retire, and what iĀ“ll say saddens me.
She is not in shape to compete for top 3 in Russia. Not even close.
She doesnĀ“t seem to be doing anything to change it (shows do not count, i mean, how many 7 triples programs does she skate in shows?).

I just donĀ“t see her coming back anywhere near top, and imho, if i had an OGM, i would rather retire from competitive skating than be a second tier competitor.

^I've been saying this in her fan thread that show skating is not the same as competitive skating. You don't even have the same kind of pressure and the mind set would be different. She doesn't even do more than a 3t and 2a in which she usually fails one or both. Plus she was never consistent as a senior so I would never expect her to just do show skating and show up to nationals with no prior competitions and make the team. But if that's the way she wants to go about it then fine its her life :confused2:

If she fully committed herself to competing, I think Adelina would have a chance (less than 50%) of making the Russian team. Watching her SP in the test skate, she still has an amazing ability to build speed without crossovers. I think I counted one back crossover from the start of her program to completing her lutz combo. I'm not sure that she would be satisfied as the second or third top Russian after winning the OGM, because that might be a best case scenario if Evgenia maintains her form and continues to see her GOE and PCS climb.

I didn't expect, that the one who likes these posts today is Plushyfan.
I guess it means: "Stop watching anime! This big family needs you." :)
Anyway... :thank:
Isn't our "war" with Plushyfan extremely funny? We are ready to take congratulations. :)

By the way, I don't know where was Zhulin, when everybody were "in different cities", but... I hope he is going to make a little more numbers?.. :)

Yet it seems to me I was wrong. Sorry. It seems Trankov said, that their pair was in one city and other pairs were in another city. (Not that his girl started to practice in another city...)

It is also interesting, that Zhulin worked with the pair Staviski and Denkova... (actually, Staviski can be a choreographer... so... ?..)
:laugh15: This is the Russian way to "compete".
