Does Alyssa have another GP assigment???
Not so far. But -- just a hunch -- I wouldn't be surprised if Emily Hughes withdraws from Eric Bompard, which could open up a spot.

If Alissa did go to the France event, she would be with Bebe and Caroline again. :)

Joannie was on fire tonight!:bow:absolutely love her new program.....beautifully detailed choreography, power, expression. there's so much more freedom and passion in her skating this year it's unbelieveable...she really made huge efforts to improve her upper body movement and it shows.

also congrats to Fumie for silver and Alyssa for bronze....great skates, well-deserved...they both look much stronger than I've seen in a long time.

It's been awhile since I first saw that promising Firebird come into gold, but now I can say, it has. Joannie was brilliant in both SP and LP.

Fumie, back on the right track was like she never went away.

Alysa, finally a medal and at Skate Canada where it all begain.

Caroline and Bebe really must think clean routines otherwise it is going to be the middle of the pack. Best of luck next time.

Carolina. Don't get carried away with Odette. She'sneaky.

Cynthia. Nice going. Hope you keep it up.

I agree. I thought it was way over-arranged. As Louis Armstrong said about bebop and progressive jazz, who's playing the melody?

I felt that way the first time - but it started growing on me a bit the second time.

Does Alyssa have another GP assigment???

Unfortunately, no. I wonder if there is any possibility to get another one. It was amazing to watch her performing clean LP. It was beautiful.
And Joannie!! You rock!!!!!

Seriously, I've never expected this podium standing. It is very fresh surprise.

Wow, Caroline must be having some health or personal problem. I haven't seen her skate with so little presence out there before. That was hard to see. :frown: Things are looking bleak for the US ladies ...

This is exactly what bothered me the most... more than her problems with jumps and speed. She probably needs some help from a good sport psychiatrist.
Personally, I love her style. She comes across as an exquisite ballerina, so fragile that one has to take a peek to watch her skating.

I think if would be up to the Host Country to select Alyssa but given her popularity and the scarceness of European Ladies, it would be good for business to grab Alyssa in Paris.

The first thing Caroline said in the kiss and cry was I couldn't have been worse if I tried, and she's right. Her technique on her jumps looked absolutely horrid tonight. She's going nowhere if she doesn't fix that pronto. The jumps were tiny. Even her spins didn't look that great this time around.

She looks like she grew a little bit, and maybe she's trying to compensate for that by doing even worse technique. It's a shame, because you can tell how badly she wants it. That high leg kick is just awful though.

Every medalist has been over 18 so far. Can this be real?
So many have been complaining little girls are taking over.. Well, not quite.
Alissa looks so happy and proud. I feel for her:love:

Skate Canada has been a very interesting competition in terms of the results.

I really hope Joannie keeps this up the whole season.

The really wonderful thing about the medalists in this event is that all 3 have been counted out by many skating fans at points in their careers, but they all persevered here.

Caroline's 3F technique is pretty bad. Huge kick up into the air - much more common to see that in peoples 3Lz, so it's odd she learned/taught herself that way.

And aside from that in her entrance to most jumps she scratches her toe into the ice to insanely decrease her speed and then push herself up to do the jump. Some skaters do that because the 'stand still' technique is easier and I noticed it very prevalently in her skate.

Also, no character at all in her performance. Having not seen her last year, I personally don't get any of the hype.

Caroline's technique has gotten worse from last year, if that's possible. I don't know if she's reverting to bad habits because of the growth spurt or stress - toward the end of last season, her jumps were looking the best that we had seen up to that point. The only consolation is that it looked as if she expected to have a bad outing tonight, and the crappy performance didn't seem to phase her. It's a pity - I've come to like her music choices this season and she could do the programs justice if she has improved.

And once again, way to go Fumie! Show the tots how it's done! It just occurred to me that she's the same age as Michelle - I know it's been said a 1000 times before, but MK could wipe her feet on the new crop if she tried.

Aside from the top 3, the ladies were an utter splatfest tonight. Quite a contrast to the men - even Jeremy Ten, who finished near the bottom of the standings, really brought it today.
