Sorry but Cziny is not polsihed nor experienced enough to overtake alot of the top skaters even if they have glitches, and she skates close to perfect!

There are no surprises in the predictions so far and no analysises of the placements. I have not ruled out Joubert and will await his skate at Euros. If he wins you will see a rush to amend the predictions of the above posters.

I hope there are some surprises...If we see any surprises from the American team I believe it could be...A perfect Sasha beating a faultered Irina...a perfect Jonny Wier sneaking in for the bronze over a Jeff Buttle who had a lot of trouble with jumps.. I would love to see B/A win, but I believe N/K are set in stone..Although, Im sure they will be thrilled with the silver.. As for pairs.. I will be very happy for T/M to win and I'd love to see S/Z right behind them if they make it...

A NNN/Leftheris win at the Olys would suit me just fine.

Sasha has a shot at gold but so does Shiz.

For me, B&A are very much a Russian team. The usual 'passion'. I would like to see that Canadian team win.

I think Klimkin, Li and Lambiel have a shot at the gold. Anyone of them would be a surprise.

I will be happy to see the following win:

Men:plushenko (Klimkin and Weir as the silver/bronze or bronze/silver medallists)

IMO Lambiel is a co-favorite for the OGM in mens event.

Ladies: would love to see Irina or Michelle (Gold/silver or silver/gold). Sasha is likely to upset them both. I would love to see a Japanese lady on the podium. I love Shizuka, and love Miki's new look. Fumie is lovely too.

Pairs:T&M for gold. Would love to see Pet-Tik win an Olympic medal- any color.
Would love to see S&Z back.

Ice dance: Would love to see B&A win the silver behind N&K's gold. It will be nice to see GrushGon win the bronze after all these years of skating.

Not actually a reply or response to this thread, but felt it was somewhat related. In our daily paper today, the comment was made that the National committee would select the second and third Olympians to go to the Olympics based on the selection criteria (that used results in several competitions in 2005 and the 2006 Nationals). What I found interesting is that the committee would "consider" the results in the numerous competitions, not that the results of any competitior would be the deciding factors. Looks like plenty of "wiggle room" if the National committee wants to pick whomever they want.

i feel like this olympics, even more so than past years, it is really difficult to figure out where the top ladies will stand... it seems like no one has a "lock" on any medal. for my top 6... i would put in irina, sasha, michelle, and our three japanese ladies.... places.... that is tough.

1. sasha cohen... i feel like this is her year to bring it. if not now, when... and she seemed like a more well-rounded person at marshall's.. but i suppose we will have to see how she fairs in nationals. and maybe this is just my personal bias, but i feel like when sasha is on, there isn't a skater out there that can compare... now if only she can skate a clean program...
2. slutsukaya... a crack like the 2002 olys wouldn't surprise me at all.
3. miki... it might be the olympic curse, but i just can't see a podium without a teenager on it lol
4. suguri... she was looking very good at the japanese nationals, even taking down mao
5. a very disgruntled michelle kwan
6. arakawa... she seems so off and on with her skating, so a lot of mistakes wouldn't surprise me.

i can't see the third qualifier from the u.s., whoever it may be, taking a very high spot in this olympics.

Re

But I think Kwan is a little old.

Some Japanese players may take her place.

My REVISED and FINAL Predictions

My predictions:

Pairs:
G - Totmianina/Marinin
S - Savchenko/Szolkowy
B - Zhangs
wild cards - Petrova/Tikhonov and Inoue/Baldwin if throw 3-axel landed

Men:
G - Plushenko
S - Lambiel
B - Buttle
wild cards - Takahashi or E-man Sandhu or Weir

Dance:
G - Dobriazko/Vanagas (you read correctly)
S - Navka/Kostomarov
B - Belbin/Agosto
wild cards - Fusar-Poli/Margaglio or Grush/Gonch

Ladies:
G - Slutskaya
S - Kostner (you read correctly)
B - Cohen
wild cards - Arakawa or Sokolova or Meissner

I'm going out on a limb and predicting that one of the four Gold medals will go to a nationality other than Russia...and the best chance for a non-Russian win is in dance. At first I was predicting Belbin/Agosto to be the 'spoilers' at the all-Russia Party. After seeing Euros, I have to place my bet with the Lithuaneans.
