He's back: Didier Gailhaguet, banned three years from any official role in the sport for his involvement in the pairs judging scandal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, was elected Saturday as president of the French ice sports federation. Marie-Reine Le Gougne, the judge at the heart of the scandal, finished third among the seven candidates for the post. Gailhaguet was president from 1998 through 2004 and, while banned, was an advisor to singles world champion Brian Joubert.

Got an email from Sonia Bianchetti Garbato. Here is what she thinks about his reelection.

Didier Gailhaguet has been re-elected president of the French Federation! He will have the right to attend the ISU Congress of course and appoint the judges for all events. This is the kiss of death for the credibility of the sport and the ISU.
I wonder whether Cinquanta now regrets not to have suspended him for life.
