Happy to see Keegan putting in the quad lutz. Hoping it doesn't mess up too much his timing on the triple, as he probably still needs it.
Unhappy to see him bothering with the flip... He almost always gets an edge call on it, and the landings are not always mastered on his flip... he certainly doesn't need a flip
Here's the layout i'd want him to do

4lz
4t-2t
4t
3 loop
3a-3t
3a-eu-3s
3lz

I have a question about Keegan's SP protocol. He got points (though not many) on a 2Lz+COMBO. Shouldn't that be an invalid element?

I have a question about Keegan's SP protocol. He got points (though not many) on a 2Lz+COMBO. Shouldn't that be an invalid element?

Went through the handbook and found this:
In case of a touch down with the free foot without weight transfer and up to 2 three turns or no turns between the jumps in a combination, the element remains a jump combination (however Judges will reduce the GOE because of error).
In case of more than 1 full revolution on the ice, the call will be the jumps performed prior to this revolution + COMBO + all the next jumps with an *.

So it seems the 2Lz still counts cause it meets the other general requirements (Solo jumps must be different from the jumps included in the combination.)? And he did not add jumps after the error (?)

Well i would be easier if we'd seen how the problem occurred...

I was worried about the fact it was a double, not triple or quad. So is a triple or quad only required for the solo jump? And a double or triple for the Axel?

Basically
Short Program must include a Jump Combination consisting of two jumps:
- Senior Men: double and triple or two triples or quadruple and a double or triple;
Short Program of the season 2022 – 2023 must include 2 solo jumps:
- double or triple Axel for Senior & Junior Men and for Senior Women, double Axel for Junior Women;
- a solo jump: Senior Men - any triple or a quadruple jump;

eta:
Maybe he had planned a 4Lz+3T combo and because of the pop in the SP he just Lzed all over in the FP?

How about he was just in yolo mode going for another Lz and liped? Judges would never think of that :laugh:

haha.. unfortunately he has been lipping for a long time.. he often finishes with a split jump into a 3f which ends up with an edge call... he's been doing this for years.

Wouldn't that be a flutz then? The judges just gave the "common error" here but I meant it the other way round which ofc they would not think of as repeating the Lz so often would not get him ponts haha

flutz is a lutz with a flip edge... he does a lip.. which is a flip with a lutz edge ;)

ahh :drama:I always confuse them
so here he could have flutzed then :biggrin: and the judges be like: "that usual lip" (not even looking)
haha but no... because the jumps are not interchangeable ;) i am not a skater but you can tell when the skater is doing a flip or a lutz.. it's not just the edge but the mechanics of the jump...

Any hope for some videos of this anywhere online? :pray:
Pretty bummed to see videos from performances in Japan and the UK "everywhere" and still missing some of these.

actually, the Skate Canada sections are usually so good with this... with free streaming, archives on dailymotion etc...no idea why Skate Ontario dropped the ball this time around... I mean so many events need a subscription (US) or a VPN or a strange link to an obscure site...
CBC also shows everything online for free.. live... etc.. not like those tv channels only showing the final flights... etc... I don't think anyone filmed this at this point... and we will never find out what happened ;)

Just watch a video of Sarah Hughes' LP from Vancouver Worlds in 2001. When you're in the rink, you can hear an edge change. Patrick Chan is still the best jumper I have ever seen, or heard. You could hear Sarah switch edges right before her Lutz. There's also a clear Ka junk sound on under-rotations. Something Sarah, Irina, and my gal Jennifer Robinson did right in front of me.

Gaaah.. people have cameras now, in their phones :drama:
I'm close to thinking they kept this secret because all skaters agreed to hide their new programs a bit longer :tantrum:

yes... people do... :) but that's not what we are talking about here ;) we are talking about livestreaming and archiving from Skate Ontario ;)

I may have some footage of Patrick Chan on my phone... but I may not have shared it online if you see what I mean ;)
