Hi! Question,

How does testing work once you turn 21? I'm almost 20 years old, but I anticipate I will start testing before I turn 21 next year. Once I do turn 21, do I just transfer to the adult track?

Thank you!!

Skaters 21 and older may test either a standard track or choose to test through the adult track.

While it's up to you which track you want to test with, the advantage of testing through the adult track is that it's possible to become a gold medalist after only four tests, rather than eight with the standard track!

I've worked with skaters who have begun their testing under the standard track and then switched to the adult track when they turned 21. I have videos of a skater who began skating at 17. She tested Pre-Preliminary and Preliminary Moves in the Field (now called Skating Skills) in the standard track. When she turned 21, she tested Pre-Bronze Singles Free Skate under the Adult Track. She is now preparing to test Adult Silver Skating Skills. You can view those videos here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhIvo-BmGcaVBP49RpGYIvrLc7BzTeqD3&si=ygs91io5Y-cJpiFB

I also have skaters that have only tested in the adult track. Those videos are here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhIvo-BmGcaWRsO7b28-4iRMnd_yzjkkg&si=Xs5kxO_WThxyFTDd

You don't have to do anything special to transfer to the adult track. When you register for a test, you just select Adult:
