Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

And the article says that he is planning to rest and recover first... And for future schedule, they will decide according to his speed of recovery....

Pls just let him rest till nationals....

He's incredibly lucky not to have a concussion. If he had - well, I'd rather not think about the further damage that could have been done.

Of course, he still needs plenty of rest and healing, but hopefully most of us can sleep better tonight with this information.

Poor kid, I hopwe he'll recover quickly. He should think more about his health, not about GPF or fans or something else. We want him healthy

Thanks for welcoming me and pls call me lia... I know this is such a bad time for a first post but if my rusty JPN and broken English can help ease your minds, then I am glad... I was just really contented to spy on this thread every now and then. But after the whole accident, I figured that we should stick together during the hard times, no?

I hope I am right about the report, too! I cross checked with another friend and she agrees that the report should be out by today...

Lia, your first post came just at the right time when your linguistic skills are needed. And yes, you are right about the report. I also agree that we Yuzuru fans should stick together during the bad times and not just in the good. :agree:

Examination release! Yuzu need to treat 2~3 weeks. The further schedule will be depend on his recovery!

Precious checks results are: "Head acne, lower jaw acne, abdominal contusion, left thigh contusion, and right ankle sprain" (頭部挫創、下顎挫創、腹部挫傷、左大腿挫傷、右足関節捻挫)

Sorry, I am not so sure about those terms. They might be not proper!

IMO, it might be a good chance to let whole national people to monitor him treated as necessary. Good boy, take rest, and come back stronger!

Thanks echotpe for that timely update! If there's no concussion, then our prayers have been answered.

I think another poster on the health update thread says he has a cranial contusion though. Does any of the news say that he will continue to be monitored for a concussion?

Thank you for the updates....sigh. He has injuries from head to toe...literally! He just needs to take this entire season off, and if he's better by then, maybe come back for Nat/Worlds. He's pushing himself way too far especially since this is only the beginning of the next Olympic cycle.

cranial contusion = contusion in the head, I suppose?

So happy Yuzu’s brain is ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And finally a wise official statement .

Yeah same with me, I was really concerned about the long-term effects of his head injury after the collision. I'm honestly really glad he can properly heal somehow and judging from his official statement, he finally got his rationality back.

cranial contusion = contusion in the head, I suppose?

I hope I am just understanding it wrong or something lost in translation, and that someone with more medical experience can clear this up.
To my understanding, a cranial contusion is still bruising of the brain just that it is more easily caught than a concussion due to the size.
But, I'm with you Meoima hopefully it really is just the very outside of the head.

Edit: Really sorry guys. I got scared when I read bruising of the head (edit 2) and mixed up cranial and cerebral. Really sorry.

No no no no I'm guessing that IN the head would imply the brain i.e. cerebral contusion. Cranial contusion is ON the head (the cranium is part of the skull), so basically an on-the-surface bruise.

(Says me with 1% medical knowledge, only basic anatomy haha)

Oh thank god :')

cranial=skull no?
hopefully if it was brain injury they would have said- (mild/severity)/traumatic brain injury or intracranial injury
ETA:late [also Im a med laboratory person not medically trained in anyway]
ETA2: monitoring for concussion: they would probably have done CT/MRI/whatever they deemed necessary to assess/show if he had brain injury [like I said, not a doc, don't know if they would do further tests at later date or no, I don't think they have to except for precaution, but it would probably depend on what they saw with the first one and ongoing symptoms]

I think it is related to skull , it's a bone contusion, it doesn't involve the brain. I remember Yuzu was bleeding from his head too, where the wound took place there's also the bone contusion.

A concussion is just a range of symptoms. A brain contusion can be visualized by CT scan or MRI so that's clear evidence of brain injury. Not sure about the use of the word cranial though especially since it's translated. Could mean that it's superficial since the skull can be referred to as the cranium.

Hopefully he'll withdraw from NHK so he can rest. One GP season isn't worth risking more injury. He's still got until 2018 (Please let it be without bionic parts like his idol )
At least a bruised bone isn't a fractured bone.
