That's what I thought too, except I came across with this in the code of ethics
Since she did not adhere to the rules in CoC..she technically violated e) which leads to P)......
If Jason ever pulled such a horribly unsportsmanlike stunt like this, I would be very angry. And very upset. And I probably would not ever be able to look at him in the same way ever again.
Again, I present a fact for you all. And that fact is simply: unless in an exceptional circumstance (such as knocking yourself out on another skater, I guess), attendance at the medal ceremony is COMPULSORY.
And you are wrong.

... Max, on the other hand…...
Love it.My take on all this put simply. Hold the girl to her contract and if she violated it punish her within reason and however applicable based on her contracts wording at the organizers discretion and also the ISU. She may face some repercussion in terms of fans but honestly I don't think anything is going to change a lot in that regard. I guess in the end its probably too soon for anything. Too soon to expect forgiveness and too soon to break out pitchforks. It is what it is.

For example, if Jason had missed the medal ceremony at Skate America, I would have hoped to hear within 24 or 48 hours something like:
"I feel terrible that I missed the ceremony, and I apologize. Congratulations to Tatsuki for his win, and to Nam for his medal."
That's perfect. Note that the hypothetical Jason did not offer any explanation or excuse, nor would we require one.
I am utterly dumbfounded at the legs this story has. There was not this much outrage when 1968 Olympic gold medalist Wolfgang Schwartz was convicted of abducting teenaged girls for the East European sex slave industry.

... as someone who has never watched Yulia skate(I couldn't tell you about her flexibility), we need to break out the pitchforks because that's what else would we do on an internet forum. I need drama in my life.
And that's why this story has legs.
More importantly, it's good to hear that Yulia has apologized; just wish she had done it sooner.
ISU made a decision to impose a fine on Julia for not attending the ceremony, the amount of fine is not disclosed

Another article also added that she appologised to the head of the Chinese Fed and the ISU.

I deleted a lengthy post trying to add this to it.![]()

Here's a bare-bones version of the Wolfgang Schwartz story from Wikipedia:Being fined was expected, as it was written in rules and regulations in CoC. Was Yulia fined from ISU or just from CoC/Chinese federation? I can't read Russian.....
