One of the girls I skate with at dance club was at CoR last week - I saw her last night and she said she loved the dance event, so of course I had to ask if she was #teamelena or #teamnikita - happily she gave the right answer!

Just a silly question here, but does anyone have an inkling as to why Tarasova doesn't appear to want I/Z to succeed? She more or less declared that they could not break through this year at COR. It was Bukin's time. Also despite I/Z creditable performance she still cannot find it within her to give them an inkling of praise. They certainly don't expect I/K to get back together? Is it that they really thought that S/K would have outpaced them already? Russian drama.....

She always liked S/B more for some reason. More than I/K and B/S even. I don't know why. I remember during some competition, Nationals maybe, she said that S/B are the only russian dance team who have some originality in them. Everyone else just repeat old stuff on the ice.
And also when I/K split she said that no new team (S/K or I/Z) have a chance to win OGM in 2018.

Edit: his father is probably have something to do with it too :laugh:

She used to really love I/K but I think she started turning against them when they went to Morozov - she wanted Zhulin to pay them more attention, or for them to leave him but not to go to Morozov - and then when Nikita almost left to skate with Jana in 2012 she was one of the people from the federation who sat him down and said it would be career suicide. I guess part of the "I/Z & S/K have no chance in 2018" spiel is just that she's very hurt about how it all turned out, because they were her babies back in 2010/11, and even in 2014 in Sochi there were loads of pictures of I/K with her immediately after the FD & flower ceremony. She was so happy for them and probably incredibly disappointed with what Nikita did a month later.

I think it's the same a bit for Averbukh - he was the one who originally put I/K and S/Z together and he was also very upset with the splits and partner swapping. But he's handled it differently, there was an interview with him at CoR where he said he wanted straightaway to help Lena & Ruslan because neither had asked to be put in this situation, and he hopes they can continue to work together as the new team develops.

I think they were covered by her general "there is no spirit left in ice dance!!" flip out after CoR. She's not going to explicitly criticise either team, just push S/B even more.

Well I agree with her that S/B has an endearing aura. But other than that I see nothing really outstanding yet. They are too tamed IMO. Well... But she loves them, let her. Love is blind.

She has a point to an extent, COP really as it currently stands strangles creativity. You have to have something special like P/C's smoothness, and other intangibles to really stand out. Best of luck to the coaches though, I think they might have it the hardest.

Nah, she loved I&K, uhh is right about it.
I'm not saying that S&B are bad but she is not stupid. She knows champions material and can see the talent.
Give her some time. If I&Z continues to do well and become strong contenders she will sing a different tune.
Same will happen if S&K will be the ones, or B&S.

She loved I/K, I didn't say she didn't. But she praised S/B more since they appeared on big ice dance stage. That's what I meant, sorry if it wasn't clear

And I don't think she will ever like B/S. No matter what they'll do

If she loves Bukin that much, she should find another girl and coach for him. Even Coomes and Buckland made some improvements on their basic skating. Why Stepanova can't?

And what Bobrova/Soloviev doing in those days? I hope they will be ready for nationals and europeans. And I hope Ilinykh/Zhiganshin working on that free dance of theirs. It reminds me Ave Maria free dance of I/K. And that is not a good thing.:hopelessness: But short dance is :cheer:
