Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Thanks for the translation link Alba! I become more and more enamored with this pair every day!

Seeing them at the press conference videos, and an interview on sovsport, they use language well, they know how to express themselves, clever guys apart from great skaters

I just love these two and feel that they are very genuine. It should be fun to watch them grow. If they can continue to tap into their potential then I see no reason for them not to become a very real threat for all medals and all levels of success.

Absolutely. There is no reason for them not to win all, if they continue to work like this. :agree:

Question for anyone: how does one in the United States watch Russian Nationals? Is there a feed? Can I get Russian sports through Comcast?

I have no idea about US.
Here in Italy I can watch some russian channels through satellites. But I'm not sure they are going to show the FS nationals.
I guess we have to settle with the streaming. I hate watching FS on laptop. :bang:

I know! My sisters best friend is Russian and o think they get Rousyia Sport 2 on TV, she said Figure Skating is in that channel. I would probably have to buy the whole Russian package though:(

Oh so no chance for me to see it on TV, then. I don't get Rousyia Sport here. :disapp:
I'm hoping by the end of december to fix something.

For the past like 7 years I've managed to stream it without buying anything. Just hang out in the Russian nationals thread at the appropriate times and people will provide free links.

No, it's actually two different channels: Rossia 2 and Rossia Sport. Rossia 2 shows live only some of the events (for example they were showing live only ladies and pairs at CoR, and ice dance and men were repeated in the middle of the night). And Rossia 2 is a federal channel.
Rossia Sport show every FS event live. Rossia Sport is a satellite channel only. And Sportbox.ru streams live translations from Rossia Sport for free in a very good quality. You only need to use Russian proxy.

Edit: I doubt that Rossia 2 will show Nationals. But it's possible. Rossia Sport will show them for sure.

Edit #2: if you have Samsung TV with SmartTV option, you can watch Rossia 2 and Rossia Sport almost for free. You only need to install some custom app, and there will be IPTV function for russian channels. I use it everyday :)

You can connect your laptop with the TV. Or Snow63 is right if you have a smart TV you can see it on TV :)

Is it covered by Eurosport?

No, I don't think so. :disapp:

Rossia Sport is a satellite channel for free?
Is this the one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_(Russian_TV_channel,_2011)
http://kanalsport.ru/
Do you know the sat.coordinates of Rosia Sport? I can't find them in english.
The only russian channels I can see with Sky Italia pac. are: RTR, Channel One, Russia Today and RT Doc.

I have a Panasonic tv.

Yes, it's the one you linked.
It's not free actually. I pay for it. I can tell you satellite coordinates if you want (when I'll be home tonight), but I think it's locked and you can't watch it. I use a prepaid card to unlock these channels, I put it in my receiver.

Do you have Smart TV on your Panasonic. I think the best way for you is to watch it via IPTV.

Send me all details in PM, when you can. ;):)

Ruslan's interview http://www.rsport.ru/interview/20141119/789444820.html
I particularly like how he sets straight all those stories about Elena's personality people spread around

And he sounds like a very serious and clever young man

Thank you for the link alithia.

morqet on FSU has translated some highlights here: Team RUSLENA - fan thread for Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

an extract ;)

Responding to the journalist's question abut difficult partners & comparing Lena to Grishuk, he says " A creative person should probably be a little implusive or flighty... I don't know what word to use here! And Lena has great character. But I don't know where the negative comments about her come from. She is very kind, sympathetic, interesting and focused. A lot depends on your training environment. We have a wonderful coaching team and a very friendly group, and Lena is valued by everyone both as a first-class athlete & as a person."

and

- Creating the new programs: They spent a lot of time early on working off ice on the dance holds & lifts to get a feel of each other. He thinks Averbuch had one of the hardest tasks making the new program when their team was at a very early stage of development, but he praises him for what he's done. They got a lot from working with Najarro, he broke down a lot of the stereotypes of Spanish dance & helped them to create authentic movements. The coaches learned a lot from working with him as well. Although it is hard to translate all the ideas and movements from what they did with Antonio on the dance floor onto the ice & keep it all within the rules of ice dance.

This is google translation: http://translate.google.com/transla...u/interview/20141119/789444820.html&sandbox=1
