Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Of course I think Yuzu can improve. He is not's Chan's level of skating skills but he never really had low PCS either. I think he is pretty well balanced in both the technical and component side :p

Yes, he's more well rounded now than he ever was before. There's still a lot of areas that he can still improve so he will just become better and better, I hope ^^

Doesn't matter what the outcome is, huge learning experience for this young guy throughout this. He is just going to get stronger and smarter mentally.

He said he already learned one thing from yesterday's sp: he kept talking about GPF, when in fact this is the NHK trophy and this is the event NOW. I think it's a very admirable thing to admit that you were ahead of yourself and should re-focus.

I know many before the competition began was complaining about it being hard to find tickets. I heard the commentator say it seats 6000 and around 5000 show up. I can see some empty seats too. Can anyone at the dome clarify? Just thinking whether in the future would it be worth it to watch a figure skating show/competition in Japan since I love appreciative crowd.

wow the comment box is nearly full of beautiful statements here after his SP last night,
even if I might not understand 100%, I know the statements are beautiful, a kind of poetic, like a his ballet program last night  yes, it’s miracle already that he was there and skating.
I feel I am proud to be a fan even more, now I wouldn’t mind about scores and jumps, my only hope is he can skate in a safe all the time today , I believe he will show us his all!! Go Yuzuru :cheer:

Awesome. This should quiet all the negative fans who are constantly worrying about his health and second guessing his decisions. He's fine and seems to be in a good frame of mind for the LP. Just let him do his thing for goodness sakes!! :cheer2:

I agree with this. Obviously as his fans we all want the best for him and for him to be in good health, but at the end of the day, he is an athlete and we are merely fans who appreciate his skating - not his coaches, not his parents. It makes sense that we'll have opinions and thoughts to share (this is a skating forum after all!), but I have to say its been a bit disheartening to see the same posts saying the same things over and over in the edge, competition threads, and fanfest threads - he shouldn't be skating here, the coaches should have done this or that, the federation doesn't care about him, etc etc. I understand we all have his best interests at heart and many fans are genuinely worried for him (and want to let others know that they are worried), but at times it does feel like all that is being accomplished is the spreading of negativity and the creation of a 'doom and gloom' atmosphere. It's been weeks since CoC, Yuzuru is obviously looking to move on, and he has decided to compete here.

I hope we can focus more on what he is doing, rather than what we think he should be doing. :)

He tried his best here and is looking to get back into competition shape, so let's continue to give him our support!

Very well written, @pitterpatter!! Yes we're beyond what happened at CoC, so let's continue to wish Yuzu all the best! :cheer:

Can I ask what you all think about his SP performance here in NHK compare to the one in CoC? I thought at that time that even though the jumps were missing the rest was beautiful too. He seemed to have completely different attitude after the two performances; after CoC he was glum and angry at himself. Last night he seemed...resigned? Like "this wasn't so great, but here it is. Obviously not satisfied but...":)

I'm very very very very very very nervous for Yuzuru. I'm going to have to sleep through it again. Because I only slept 5 hours last night. And plus I won't be up at 4:00 in the morning.

Heart skipping beats now. Please Yuzuru! Fight back!! You can do it!!!

^ Yeah, to me ... I learned through CoC that watching figure skating live isn't really good for my heart or health to be honest. So now I sleep through these competitions and check for updates the next morning; it's a lot less nerve-wrecking and I wouldn't get a heart attack. ;) :rolleye:

I am not anxious at all. Whatever the results might be. I think after Yuzuru's SP yesterday, I can actually enjoy his performance live from now on. He's a strong young men, with so much passion in his skate. that's what I know I will always see.

Omg, no. I'm getting excited. I'm going to have high hopes now but no, I shouldn't expect too much from this boy. He's human after all and this is the ice. I might stay up. Is anybody else staying up for his LP?
