I think Gracie did a fabulous job in the NHK SP. I thought her choreo was stunning and her pacing and presentation of the music was the best I've seen from her. She looked strong and confident. I was very impressed with her all around.

Polina has to be feeling pressure this year. Last year she was so carefree and seemingly unfettered with expectations. Welcome to the big girls Polina.

Happy for Gracie and her first Grand Prix win! Glad to see she and Ashley will both be going. I'm excited to see how that competition turns out. I hope they can challenge the 4 Russians for the podium and shake things up.

When skaters are tight they start popping jumps or don't do what they planned on doing which Gracie was doing with her jumps. She needs to go for her triples that's what makes the Russian girls so tough they go for all their jumps.

Figure skating is an icy slope. Both skaters need to stop second guessing and do what they do in practice. Gold seems to be a late season skater like Ten. She's building confidence, and will only get better. Both skaters need to stop looking at public media!

Congrats to Gracie. It wasn't the gold she imagined but her short was fabulous, and the free held up.

Great thing for Gracie. I hope she feels relieved because the pressure must have been huge for her to be expected so much. Hopefully this will boost her confidence going forward.

On the other hand, good job for Polina to come back strong. BUT is her under-rotations something to be concerned with? Or is it just some growing pains..?

Gold will need a 3-3 in the FS to contend at GPF. Wagner will need a miracle.

Gold has a great shot at a Bronze, don't think she can edge Rado or Tuk the way they are skating. Wagner still has great performance/interpetaion, but with many mistakes, no solid 3-3, two foots, few transitions in FS, she will need to skate much cleaner to avoid 6th. But Julia/Pogo have had rough performances as well.

It's a little funny to think earlier in the year Gracie stated that she would never have to face more than three Russian girls at a time and now of course she the opportunity to match herself up against FOUR of them!

I remember when she made that statement I thought "that's true and not a bad way to help keep the Russian juggernaut in perspective." Meanwhile, I also remember thinking there was potential for an all Russian Grand Prix Final, but for some reason it never occurred to me that the final is the one circumstance where she might actually be skating against more than three.

I think next year if Serafima, Evgenia and Maria all go senior we could see an all Russian GPF, that's something I want to see and don't want to see lol

On one hand it would be awesome to see 1 country take all eligible spots for the GPF and on another hand I don't want to see it.

hahah riiiiiight?! There's one part of me that's like, that could be kind of fabulous to see this sort of Russian Nationals happen but have it be over a major international title. That could be quite the pressure cooker. But also, I've got so many other ladies I so want to see in the final too!

Right now if you were to take all six ladies in the final and rank them by their point totals, Gracie would be in third and Ashley would be fifth, but very close to Anna in fourth. I feel like is Elizaveta and Elena keep skating the way they are there's just no one coming close to them in the final. I'm also really curious how Anna is going to skate at the final. She was not good at all in Moscow, but when she skates clean she puts up big numbers.

I do think Ashley will be coming from behind after the short. She's still yet to get credit for more than one triple in the short. Her PCS are always big, but she's not going to have any significant advantage over anyone here except maybe Anna.

Gracie looked way more trained at NHK. The programs are starting to have that automatic look to them that I feel is such a trademark of a good Frank Carroll student. The nuances that start to materialize as you see they're able to breath in between the elements. If she was able to improve the way she did in 5 weeks, I think two more weeks of good training is going to at least solidify where she is.
