I don't understand what happened? I know she had a rough skate but...the details are murky..

Her blade clipped the boards and she had a nasty freak fall. Hyperextended her knee and bruised cartilage. She finished the program though. Love that girl to pieces! So now I'm drinking and eating buffalo wings and tomorrow will be a fat day.

Tough. Really tough.

I thought their training conditions are rather good in Kustarova`s group?

Yes, they are quite good but there are people who are still convinced they are getting screwed over by the fed. In reality, they have almost everything they need. Masseur. Sports psychologist. A doctor that makes periodic visits. A ballroom dance specialist (and judging by the SDs of YM, Skoptsova and Aleshin, and Sosnitskaya and Golovishnikov, he is actually quite good), an acrobat on retainer, an off-ice coach, and seemingly preferntial treatment for ice time. (Vasiliev's group is currently camped out at the same rink but they apparently have to share with one of the other pairs groups)

Yes, Elena's said before that there are days when they can even get the ice completely to themselves for a couple of hours. I think the problems are more for skaters like Elena R where they skate at rinks with several different coaching groups so it's more crowded & ice time is limited.

Who is saying they get screwed over about training time & facilities? People complain that the fed seem to favour other teams when it comes to press & PR, but I don't see complaints about the training set up.

It's mostly people that think that media and press show everything, or get stuck up on a coach's name which I find stupid at times cause older fans ( not necessarily in age) know that coach dominance is temporary. But I guess the whole DW and VM dominance has created impressions, and if they don't recognise or don't see the skaters on TV they just start...

This I admire on IZ btw, they won Nationals but once again avoided press, tv, media, just got into the rink and started working.

Most of what I have heard about poor training conditions and very crowded rinks has to do with Liza Tuk. Mishin has said they were doing so many competitions this year because the training conditions are much better at comps. From everything I've heard, the conditions are far better in Moscow because that's where the Fed has been putting its money

Back in the summer, Nikita talked about all the pros Marina had at her disposal like Cirque acrobats and DWTS pros and some here were complaining that IZ weren't getting any of that. In reality, they get access to all of that . also, when Elena posted that pic of that strange fat burning contraption that Cheryl Cole was promoted as using, the usual "insiders" on sports.ru were saying they had to go to Novogorsk to get decent training.

Vasiliev as well. He was originally based un St. Petersburg but was unhappy about conditions. He's now in Moscow and, for the moment, working in The Medvedkovo rink where Kustarova is. But Bazarova said the base is still not permanent and they apparently have to share with the other pairs group that has been permanently based there the last couple of years.

There was an interview with Inna after nationals saying Elena struggles to get enough ice time & people have been speculating since last summer that she would even change coaches because of it, although thankfully that seems to be just rumours. I guess it's better in Moscow because of the extra funding, but then all the skaters move there from St. P - off the top of my head Serafima, Artur & Nikol in just the last year - & things are still crowded because there are just so many people! But it seems to be a problem more for the singles than any of the dance group.

Well, Nikita would have been comparing it to Morozov's group, and maybe things are different with Kustarova. It's also possible that resources were added since that time. :confused2:

Anyway, it sounds like conditions and support are pretty good for I/Z now. Maybe there were some issues at first

Since Russian Nationals it has been very quiet around Ruslena, which I`m glad about. It remembers me the time before COC and how surprised then everyone was, when they showed up that well trained.

Anyway, I hope Ruslan`s interview will come out soon, I`m really looking forward to it.

Those resources have been there for a while. In this interview back in 2012, conducted right after Bobrova and Soloviev left and before they moved to Medvedkovo, they mention all the specialists that work with them. Most of the people mentioned at the end of the article could be seen in IZ's Latvian pics.
