Elena Radionova

Wearing high heels as a teenager makes you feel sophisticated, like a lady. You want to be an adult and I remember that at that age for me high heels were the stuff that set you apart from the kids. Little girls don't wear high heels, only women do. I think that's the mindset behind it, and if Elena loves those heels, let her wear them. It's fun if you can dress up at a banquet, so why not?

I totally agree! She looks great in them, and I bet that's a new dress too! She's 16, and she's showing that she's a young lady now, not a little girl!
Plus, I'm sure she was tired of feeling like a midget at the banquet when wearing flats, like here:

If it's only once in awhile, for a party, I don't think it's THAT terrible. My friends who are professional ballerinas definitely wear heels to parties, and they abuse their feet all day long! ;)

Thanks Roman09 for the link! Can anyone summarize what Lena said?
Also - what is that flag they were holding?

There are more photos here:

Kovtun looks so grim and unhappy compared to Lena!
I have to say, they both are at the same club (CSKA), but they do not seem close at all--not like Lena and Sergei Voronov, for example. They even mention each other in interviews, and I usually can find a photo of them together at the banquets...

Speaking of which! I can't figure out how to get a direct link, but if you look at the top right photo here (well, it's the top photo right now), you can see Sergey & Lena at the banquet. (Or if you follow Sergei on Instagram, you can see it too.)

Don't they look nice? :)

Also, here's an interview with Goncharenko. I guess they won't make any change to Lena's jump layout, just work on gaining +GOEs...

Oh, I almost forgot. I found this HILARIOUS tidbit!! Yes, we all know that Lena LOOOOOVES to pose for the camera and be photographed, but I didn't know she did this!

Post-event press conferences are held for journalists of the written press but also for photographers. While the skaters talk, they are not moving at high speed on the ice, so it's easier to get good pictures of their faces....Russia's Elena Radionova, who won the silver medal, has devised a particular tactic for these press conferences. When every other skater leaves the microphone upward as it is, she bends it downward, so that it does not hide her face. This way her photos are completely clear.

No wonder I saw so many closeup photos of Lena at the press conferences and not the others!

Still a very emotional girl after all

 I heard that she cried backstage, but I hadn't seen a picture before.

Losing by less than a point is harsh, but I don't think this is that bad. Elena has mentioned in a couple of post Euro interviews that deep down there is some sadness, but overall she's happy about her first Europeans as an experience:)

And she conducted herself very well as a narrow silver medalist.

Totally unrelated: There is a fifth(?) Bermeniev's photo: http://instagram.com/p/yhNiGvBKB6 She looks really young in that pic.

She is still a child. And the children's thinking is usually straightforward: if you done what you need - you won, if you didn't - you've lost. She needs to go through this to understand that life isn't all so easy. Plus her emotional state to that point... She is very well behaved in public - when she have understood that she lost. He smiled at the camera, even made no sign that she is hurt. As soon as she was among her familiars, apparently her nerves no longer stood and all splashed

It almost relaxes me to know that she cried backstage!
When Liza's scores came up and the camera showed Elena, who smiled dutifully, I thought:
Ok this is either a great little actress who knows how to behave in public very well and can contain her emotions 100%.
Or someone who doesn't care about placements, which would be ridiculous.
Because she should have been upset and pretty disappointed!
Losing cause you made mistakes- sad but you get it.
But losing with two flawless skates, full of energy and difficulty after being amazing all season long, then at the biggest competition yet, losing by 1 little point... this hurts more imo.
Knowing you did everything but it wasn't enough.

This gives me even more respect for her! She is such a fierce woman in the body of a girl. I don't agree with "She is still a child, that's the reason". A little child would have been visibly upset in front of the cameras and maybe even cried right on the spot, making a 'scene'.
She on the other hand was able to control herself and with that, in my opinion, also showed a great deal of respect for Liza and acknowledging her moment.
We've seen adults behave like little children during these Euros, and we've seen a girl who is wise way beyond her years :cheer2:

New interview this morning at Gazeta.ru: http://www.gazeta.ru/sport/2015/02/02/a_6398061.shtml

In it she says, for instance, that she has very little free time at the moment, because she has so much schoolwork (9th grade exams coming up); she's admiring Audrey Hepburn again (and Kim, Kostner, Asada) and her FS is about peace and growing up.

The interviewer also asks about the other girls in the Russian team (seperately): Adelina is closest to her, Anna least close. Liza is very funny and Julia's humor and general way of communication is "peculiar". And she is not as "closed" when you get to know her. But all the girls are nice and she gets along with everybody.

And this bit I want to put here in it's entirety (through Google Translate):
- I admire the way you are able to work with the public: Always smile when you need to, be sure to react to the camera, etc. You anyone ever taught this?
- No-oo! All by herself. But I do it from the heart, because I want to. I love when the audience supports me, and the people are very grateful for that.

There you have it!;) The bad translation says it. All natural and from the heart:love:

Yes, she is. There were some short videos at some vk account during Russian Nationals where you could see the skaters signing autographs. Lena was signing with her leftie

edit: At first I didn't even notice it was a video! She is not "making it up". It's grazy:eek:! That was actually her real facial expression!

This girl is not a human

I can't stand her cuteness, my head explodes

I'm done for the day
