Elena Radionova

If they make something like Alice in Wonderland on ice, I am sure Elena will fit the role.moh dear that would be a masterpiece!!! Like Carmen on Ice. Why they don't ever think of this?

I agree!

I found another article with some quotes from the Sovsport interview:
http://www.sports.ru/others/figure-skating/1027032998.html

It mentions what Lena said about eating whatever she wants, and that she doesn't like vegetables! How appropriate for her to wear a shirt that says "Life is short. Eat dessert."

It also says that Lena grew 2 cm since the New Year--that's like in one month!

And in this article it says that she grew 9-10cm in total (from what I can tell from people's comments, that seems to be since Jr. Worlds)
http://www.sovsport.ru/news/text-item/776474
So if she was 153cm then, that means she's about 162cm now!!

If Lena keeps growing at this rate, she might have to give up skating and go into modeling!

Also - I found this article/essay by the reporter who interviewed Lena that compares Lena and Lisa, and I thought the introduction was quite hilarious!

Here the age-old dispute between the two capitals - Moscow against Petersburg. Here there is--based on the nicknames of the main characters--the all-powerful queen [Queen Elizabeth I] versus the beloved heroine of Russian fairy tales [Elena the Fair]. Sophisticated charm of the East versus a classic example of Russian beauty in the form of a naive blonde, blue eyes wide open, fluffy eyelashes and a dazzling smile. This "Mariinsky" against "Bolshoi".

So I guess "Elena the Fair" (the Russian fairy tale princess) is pretty widely used as a nickname for Lena! :agree:

(Personally, I prefer the Mariinsky ballet--well, mostly the Vaganova school--over the Bolshoi, but that's for ballet. For skating, it's Elena the Fair forever!!)

The rest of the arguments are a bit silly, in my opinion, but that introduction definitely made me laugh.

 Brilliant introduction!

With these kids she practically looks like a giant:eek: http://instagram.com/p/ywlv3VwYe8 So, that's her team for the next 3 days. The rest of Inna's kids are at Junior Nationals I suppose. Though, sadly, Sasha withdrew due to illness. Unlucky season for her:no:

Yeah, what's with this? The Russian ladies threads need more activity (at least, the ones who are still competing this season, Julia's thread is still going strong)!

Anyway, here's my NBC recording of Elena's FS from Euros 2015:

Late to the party but congratulations on the Euro's Silver! :hb: It was a great debut and I'm sure this will fuel her spirit going into Worlds

She is the most potential medalist CSKA has for worlds so she should be TAT's favorite for the next six weeks or so. Another question is whether that fact changes anything at CSKA, well, probably not. I'm sure she still skates through a crowd of kids in her practise, as usual. :rolleye:

Her "I love you!!" at the end is just absolutely priceless!
Even Plushy's reaction is like, "this girl is too cute!"

Well, I love you too Elena!! (I take the liberty of assuming she said those words to everybody!)
That is a fun interview!

This question was raised before here somewhere, but I think it got lost with all the post EURO hassle. There was this welcoming party at the airport and Elena said something on TV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM6Ncn6o_zs Just a few sentences at 1.44-2.03, but I'd love to know what. So if there's a kind Russian speaker to translate this, I would appreciate it:) (Or is it just something very similar to what she said in other recent interviews as well?)

And she posted again something at instagram. A Stockholm banquet pic that we've almost seen before, but there could never be too many Lena's pictures posted in this thread: http://instagram.com/p/y7nT40wYU5

edit: Oh, and another thing at vk! A new profile pic http://cs619726.vk.me/v619726606/1bfa9/WXZqlBrTK0E.jpg

Thank you, sabinfire!! You are the best!

After Sotnikova's leaving into Dances with the Stars the TAT aimed at Lena?
http://cs624123.vk.me/v624123788/21baa/r1l6C-RX5PA.jpg

TAT has been working with Lena, or at least overseeing her training, for awhile now. See this interview from 2012-13 season:
http://www.figureskating-online.com/elena-radionova.html

Q: What is your usual daily schedule?

Elena: I have ice time from 9.30, I go and train 1 hour 15, sometimes I am going out on the ice again, when Tatiana Anatolievna (Tarasova) is there or when we didn't get something done I might go out on the ice again for half an hour, but not always.

If Adelina doesn't come back, though, I wonder if TAT will choreograph for Lena...? The competitive programs she did for Mao Asada were kind of hit-or-miss, but I usually liked her exhibition programs a lot. I'm kind of thinking that if Lyudmila Vlasova can really help Lena fix her posture and become more graceful, then I'd like to see a more balletic program from Lena, and maybe TAT could provide that.

I'm not suggesting that Lena should try to be like Mao, but I think this kind of music/program would be a good challenge for Lena in the future--the music is melancholy, but there is a lot of intensity/passion in it, which I think could suit Lena...

On a totally unrelated note, I saw TAT in person in New York a few weeks ago--she was at a ballet performance I was watching and I was like, OMG!!

I think this photo is not from this year Lena looks much older on it. Maybe even 2012/2013 season.

Yup, I agree! That braid looks like her 2012-13 LP hairstyle!

Interesting portrait!

As for her Euros banquet pic, when I first saw it, I was like, :jaw: Lena looks sooo thin! Mayyybe she should work on adding a little more muscle--especially if she's growing like 2cm/month!!

I also love to listen to her voice. As cute as her looks!

That peak over the shoulder of Verner at 1.32......Priceless:biggrin:

She's like, "why isn't the camera on meeee?"
She does have an *adorable* voice!

I guess Lena will appear in that Prosport magazine after all!
http://instagram.com/prosport_magazine/

Oh, Great!!!:party2: We are definitely getting some amazing pictures soon!

Elena: I have ice time from 9.30, I go and train 1 hour 15, sometimes I am going out on the ice again, when Tatiana Anatolievna (Tarasova) is there or when we didn't get something done I might go out on the ice again for half an hour, but not always.

You know, I hadn't read this before. Thanks Batsuchan

TAT sure isn't too busy if she's hanging around in NY watching ballet in such an important part of the season. I don't know about TAT, but I personally would not wish to fly from Moscow to NY (and back) for just a couple of days:ohwell:

Mao was brilliant in that video. Her score was too low. Elena should learn to do a program like that. It's not what she's best at right now, but I do think it would already suit her better than Rach. I agree that there is more in that program for Lena's type of performer "to act out" and it's not "just a show" like her current SP (which I love).

Thank you for the NBC version Sabinfire, just watched it:agree:

Oooh, thanks Noolan!

Though I can barely recognize Lena here...

At first I saw this and thought, oh, those short pants with the high socks actually make Lena's legs look kind of normal-length. But now I'm thinking that the pants are normal-length and they're way too short for Lena's legs! :laugh2:

I like the caption here. "She poses as well as she skates." Yes, that's our Top Model for you!!

You're welcome!

As for TAT, since it was the weekend before US Nationals, some of us were speculating that maybe she was going to scope out the competition, and just decided to stop in NYC..???

Finally, I stumbled upon this today...OMG, so fun! Lena dancing in the top left...and sliding across the ice--priceless!

It was at the Junior World's gala last year - everyone got back on the ice and had a load of fun!! I remember watching it live. I make montages of Elena, and I downloaded a video of it, so it was on YouTube. The slide across the ice is in one of my montages, but I deleted the whole video of the gala ending :(( it was so fun to watch.

Think I found it:

EDIT: I think this is just the final performance, not the after bit :(

Oh man! Why is that latter part of the Gala ending taken off:scowl:! I remember that it was in two parts (haven't watched it in a long time) And I remember those kids having fun in the "after party". Should have downloaded it:no:. Sorry Batsuchan, I can't seem to help either.

Elena was having so much fun. What I also remember about it is that it seemed like Sima and Zhenya were very close to each other all the time. They looked like best friends to me (at the time I didn't know they were practise buddies). I remember being a bit annoyed about it, because those two seemed so "closed out" from the rest of the world (like girls often are with their bestie), and when Lena wanted to hang out with them, she looked like a third wheel:slink:
