Jason Brown

Ah. Patience is apparently not my virtue. Thanks for letting me know. I have just always enjoyed his blogs. They're such warm and sunny reads (and warm and sunny are even more appreciated than ever in February).

:agree: Jason's expressive blogging is one of the reasons that I originally started paying more attention to his skating.

First practice went great! And my roommate @jasonbskates got here last night! It is turning out to be a pretty awesome Tuesday! #4CC2015

LOL, if anyone can outsmile Jason, it would be the equally lovable Danny O'Shea.

Their room is going to be the warmest and sunniest place on the planet this week.

Well, well, well. Not sure how I feel about this. Also nervous, and hoping that Jason is less nervous. Saw some "Jason enters practice" photos on twitter. Now will we have reports that Jason will actually practice the quad?

I have not seen any reports that he tried it in the first practice. But it looks like he was running T&I, so that might be the reason.

He has to try it sometime. His team seems to have decided this was the best time to try it. Id rather it now than at world's.

I think it's good enough where they felt good about trying it, me thinks. Kori doesn't strike me as someone makes they call without passing some threshold.

Agree completely. I would not be surprised if winning nationals has giving him a bit of a confidence boost. If he has been landing it in practice, the time may be right. If it works out, great, if not, well it should at least get people to stop telling him to try it. Honestly I don't think we would see it if Kori was not feeling pretty solid.

I had a thought last night. Popping jumps is a pretty regular occurrence even for the most senior competitors. But as far as I can recall, I've never seen Jason pop a jump! Has anybody else? He might twofoot some, but popping - never.

Well... I don't expect him to nail that jump (how many men do anyway on their first outing?), but if it goes wrong, it's only 4CC. So there's that. I have no idea if I like this or not - but anyway, good luck!!!:cheer:

i think he did pop his 3A at last year's TEB LP , anyway i think its exciting that they decided to try it at 4CC, better than trying it at worlds, wish him all the luck, hope he can nail it, Good luck! :cheer:

Hmm. I have a vague memory of him popping, but I can't remember what or where. He's very good at rotating, and not too bad at staying on his feet, either. He gets a very nice air position with the tight feet and pointed toes.

I don't actually think that the TEB 3A qualifies as a pop, in that it wasn't so much hesitation / "opening" too early as that he was forced to abort the jump even before he got in the air because his toepick caught the ice - although I can't say because I'm not sure what the "rules" are...

I think if he's ready--and I agree with Mrs P that he and Kori have been very very smart about what 'ready' means for him--then 4CC is a great competition to try it. You have the benefit of competing against some of the world's premier skaters and the "pressure" of that without the worries that if he misses it will mean the loss of the GPF or a spot for his country at next year's Worlds. Really, I am just continually impressed at their smarts about strategy.

You should have heard my gasp!

All right, now I'm terribly nervous... Really, I don't know what it is with me - I love the big explosive jumps, and I love my favourites doing them... but when they decide to - I'm a nervous wreck! I get this knot of anxiety in my stomach....

But - go, Jason! I believe in you! You can do it!

You're not the only one! I don't think I'll be able to watch it live

I love long plane rides! For some reason, I find them very relaxing and fun. I keep myself active as much as possible: walking around the plane, watching a movie or two, stretching inbetween the aisles, playing a game with Kori, jumping around and dancing in the open space by the bathrooms!

I'd sure love to share a flight with him someday!

Well, this seems to not be a problem... It seems that I won't be able to watch it live even if I wanted to! And per the tv/stream thread in the 4CC subforum - it doesn't even seem as if Eurosprt is going to show ANY of the men's SP! Consider me seriously disgruntled...

Jason's filed his first blog entry. It only covers the day of his departure through arrival at the hotel in Seoul--but if you thought you'd seen his superhuman energy level at full tilt, wait until you read this:http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2015/02/10/108855198/

I now have this absolutely hilarious mental image of Josh and Jason sitting in the gate lounge laughing at each other for being so wiped. Possibly pulling faces at each other, maybe the occasional prod. "You still awake? You don't look it."
