Yes so nice for swedish viewers not have to watch TV4:s coverage of figure skating, so bad!!! Hope SVT:s new commentator will do an ok job-keep the talk to a minimun during the performence!

Unlike most of this season, Eurosport Nederland is not deviating from the Eurosport International schedule. (I take it that means there are no Bundesliga matches this weekend!) So, Dutch figure skating fans will not be missing out!!!

After being on DSF/Sport1 for the past 5 years, Eurosport Deutschland has won back the German rights for MotoGP. Consequently, to accommodate the bikes, some of the broadcasts of the figure skating are being skipped by ESP Deutschland. HOWEVER, German fans will not actually miss out on seeing anything.

On Thursday, the early evening highlights of the Pairs Free will not be shown on ESP1 Deutschland due to coverage of the MotoGP Free Practice sessions. HOWEVER, the Pairs FS was shown LIVE earlier in the day anyway.

On Friday, the LIVE coverage of the Men’s Short will not be shown on ESP1 Deutschland due to coverage of U-20 football. HOWEVER, there will be a full replay of the Men’s SP on ESP2 at 20:00 CET.

On Sunday, the early evening highlights of the Gala will not be shown on ESP1 Deutschland due to coverage of the MotoGP races. HOWEVER, the Gala was shown LIVE earlier in the day anyway.​

Eurosport France are broadcasting all of the first showings of each segment, but are greatly cutting down on the highlights programmes. This is most clearly shown by the fact that they are not showing ANY of the early evening highlights programmes. On most days, this is because of MotoGP coverage, which you can understand as LIVE coverage should take priority over recorded programmes.

HOWEVER, on Wednesday, the early evening highlights of the Pairs SP is being replaced by highlights of basketball, while the late night highlights are being replaced by highlights of boxing.

British Eurosport actually has very good coverage this time. The only differences is to the highlights programmes. In short, British ESP are showing a lot more highlights programmes of the competititions than the other Eurosport variations!!!

Indeed - I noticed their listings (as of yesterday) showed "live" skating, that covers times when there is NO live skating! (according to the ISU schedule published 6th March)

Thank you cleo2070! I made out my schedule this morning, with the aim of posting it tonight (I was waiting until Eurosport were finished showing their repeats of Europeans). But it didn't dawn on me that the time change was in the middle of it.

I hardly ever know that the spring clock change is due before it happens (at least with the autumn change it is easy to remember that it is always the weekend before Hallowe'en!), and never remember which way the clocks go either!

Mmmm. Some last minute editing required...

You're welcome, CaroLiza_fan, although it's really nothing:) I've started to enjoy keeping track of time zone differences, countries that observe DST and so on recently... remarcable what effects figure skating can have, no?
Fortunately it's only one day to take into account, so I hope there won't be too much editing involved. I find your posts very useful, especially since the commentry on British Eurosport is usually very nice to listen to:biggrin: So I'm looking forward to seeing the schedule (when time allows, of course) and many thanks in advance!

(Also, I think I'm going way OT, but when I posted earlier I was also reading on Wikipedia that "The North American mnemonic <<spring forward, fall back>> (also <<spring ahead ...>>, <<spring up ...>>, and <<... fall behind>>) helps people remember which direction to shift clocks." As for myself, since I'm terribly lazy, I used to associate spring with pleasant, nice, easy things - such as clicking just one button on various devices to move the hour forward, unlike the more complicated process in autumn... I'll just add that I'm thankful for technology today taking all this off my hands;) )

Yes, I meant to post something about this but I haven't looked up the full schedule details. CBC appears to have excellent coverage (not just internet live-streaming, but TV broadcasts too), they seem to have at least 2 to 3 hours of Worlds coverage pretty much every day beginning Tuesday, the 24th.

I like your story about just pressing one button. I might just use one as an aide to remembering! ;) :biggrin:

Let me tell you a story that might help explain why, at 29 years old, I still have problems when it comes to clocks changing.

Growing up, I always had the problem of remembering which way to change the clocks. So, one spring, I decided to make a concerted effort to memorise which way the clocks went.

Coming up to the clocks changing, the newspapers always have a notice on the front page. We have local weekly newspapers that come out on a Wednesday (the Tyrone Courier) and a Thursday (the Mid-Ulster Mail). So, on the Thursday, I took the Mid and spent the next couple of days drilling what it said into my head.

"Spring back". "Spring back". "Spring back".

And because I was so unsure of the clock changes, I didn't realise that they had printed it wrong! :eek:

So come the Sunday morning, my Dad was getting cross about the clocks being changed the wrong direction. And it was only when I protested and got the Mid out and showed them what it said that my parents were able to spot that the wrong thing was written.

Obviously, somebody else must have noticed, because there was an apology in the following week's paper. But, that relatively little mistake has had a lasting effect on me. Because I went to the effort of memorising it, I am more confused than ever.

It has got to the stage that I don't change any clocks myself, but rather wait until somebody else does, and then copy them!

So, that is why I am the way I am when it comes to clocks changing.

I always had trouble with it, until I learned the Spring forward, Fall back mnemonic. As far as I know, we don't have a good mnemonic in Dutch, so I'm very glad to have the English one. I associate Spring with joy, something to look forward to, so it really works for me.

Alas, even with the start of Daylight Savings, the time zone difference between here and Shanghai is still a pain. Very little live Worlds viewing for me this year. :-(
 
Thanks for sharing, CaroLiza_fan! It's amazing how confused people, even journalists, get when the clock changes... And at least you can blame it all on outside factors:) I, on the other hand, still have a reflex of looking left when people say 'to the right' because I was very confused as a child when it came to distinguishing between them:slink:

Winnie_20, it's too bad about the early hours. I hope you'll be able to catch some of the live afternoon (CET) showings!
