Jason Brown

I'm still not able to say anything useful, but: :love::love::love:

I can only repeat over and over again: it's lovely being a Jason fan. And to think there were people who said he wasn't a worthy nationals champion - I suppose they're eating their words right now. I'm also ready to defend his PCS, he gave the best performance of the night, and of course that should be rewarded.
Now I'm going to tell my non-FS-fan-friends that that guy they liked was awesome again and I'll sit there like a proud aunt while they gush over him - I love this :biggrin:

You're not the only one with non-fs friends who liked Jason; one of my oldest friends (who really was not into FS at all) fell in love with Jason during the Olys last year (mostly because she's the biggest Prince fan on this earth) and now she's really getting into it - but she still loves Jason above everyone else :) And I totally get the "proud aunt" thing

Man Jason was on fire. He has so much talent and that performance was first rate.
Congrats!

Why would anyone complain about his PC's if so they must be blind cuz it is so obvious he earned
every point. How can you not appreciate a skater that put down a performance like Jason did tonight.

Dave and Jenny are calling Phil "where can I insert the word 'quad' in this article about Jason" Hersh out? Wow, I may need to eat my words about Dave.

Wish we had a like button, because I agree with all the comments and all the love for our Jason! :agree: He brought it when the pressure was on, as we all knew he could.

And :thumbsup: for changing the pants. Now for Cotton Eyed Joe....:laugh2:

Good to know I'm not the only one with that "proud aunty" thing ;) It's just so great when you can be all excited about something and people are totally jumping on board with it.
Jason really is the kind of skater this sport needs. Winning medals is one thing, but getting people into this sport is just as amazing, IMO. He's not getting enough credit for that sometimes, but he has more potential to make people fall in love with this sport than a lot of medalists (and I like most of the medalists too). Not that this was something new, we knew that since his viral nats LP last year, but I'm still happy he's keeping it up so well :)

I will be interested to hear TSL's recap. For the past few days their tweets have been positive.
 
First - A little husband report:

My husband watched a little of the men's LP, and he was a bit concerned for Jason skating last, and kept talking about how hard that must be for him. And then he was pleased to see that, as he said, Jason actually seemed to have more energy at the end of the program. At the result he said: "Jason Brown is still going strong. He's still in it." (very, very rough translation from Urdu.) "4th place is not bad - not bad at all. Especially without a quad."

Note: I think he was quite concerned yesterday, when he happened to glimpse that Jason was in the second last warm-up group. "Why is Jason Brown so low?" he exclaimed before he had to rush off. I think that he now feels reassured and relieved about Jason. :)

Anyway, from myself:

Congratulations to Jason! Well done on a well deserved 4th place finish - and a great way to close off the competition. It may be hard on Jason - but I do think he should close off every competition - no anti-climax with Jason around. Go, Jason! :)

You know I was thinking about this the other day and I think that not having (int'l) medals might actually be something that draws people to him even more - like it's so obvious that he's deserving and the fact that he's not getting on the international podium makes people think he's the underdog and everybody loves the underdog! P/C were the underdogs, but I've seen more than one comment now saying that it was great that they won but it "feels too much like they're anointed". Which is what a ot of people said about Jason.
 
I think the biggest thing for me is how much he grew between this season and last. He was always a great competitor, but I feel that he's really embraced his experiences in his two seasons as a senior -- both victories and struggles -- and learned more how to deal with pressure, especially now that he is the U.S. Champ.

Also one thing I notice is that he's doesn't have the "OMG I CANT BELIEVE I GOT THAT SCORE." face these days. I think he's finally embraced the fact that yes, he can score some good numbers and be up there with the best. Today's reaction was much more subdued: A nod of satisfaction.

Anyway, I'm dying to know whether he'll go to WTT. WTT scores DO count toward season's best and it would be fun to see him up his SB (though he doesn't need it for GP since since he gets two assignments automatically). I'll guess we'll find out soon. On the other hand, I could also see Kori saying it's time to move on and start work for next season.

I liked the mostard color pants and the old Renessaince color composition of the costume... but the in the new costume Jason and his movements are more expressing!

Hersh's article is wrong about one thing. He claims Orser is the first coach to have students go 1-2 at Worlds. A coach has had all 3 medalists at one Worlds. Of course, it was in dance, so it is always shorted in the US:

They also had the 9th and 14th place teams.

9th was Madison Chock with her old partner, Greg Zuerlein, who is currently coaching in Shpilband's school. Bates was out that season with a severed Achilles tendon.
 
I'm starting to think that we need to have a meet up of us Jason fans and our husbands can have a separate activity where they can bad mouth us for our crazy fandom :laugh2:

Very similar to my feelings. I think i like the concept of the old one better, but Jason clearly looks better in this version.
