(a) that Josh is wearing his sushi t-shirt :) [if my eyes do not deceive me].
(b) that I love how Christy is giving him his space at the same time that she is there as a reassuring presence.​

Josh, while more low-key than many skaters (including ones I tend to like), has that X-factor. Usually when I'm watching a competition without knowing the results, I get so nervous about placements that it's often hard to concentrate on the program. But even with mistakes, Josh captured by attention, didn't let me deteriorate into OMG-land-this-jump mode. That StSq was everything.

Also, karne I was screaming for him to not zayak too! I'm sad for him that his first worlds didn't go according to plan, but he showed what he can do at 4cc and hopefully can build on that next season.

Also, was I the only one who saw JTen's skate to Hallelujah and thought "hmmm...Josh could skate to this music?"

Me! Me! (raises hand) I wouldn't want him to do it for a competitive program but an EX, absolutely. I think Virtue/Moir did an EX to it a few years ago and it was gorgeous. I love Jeff Buckley's voice and so sorry we lost him at a young age. (He died in '97, when Josh was 2 - god I feel old!)

Speaking of good voices, I like how he's kind of lost in his own playing and then notices the people watching in that video, lol.

Yes, exactly my thoughts! I think it'd be a bit "too much" for a competitive program for him but oh my gosh, what a fantastic EX. He needs a new one, that Bruno Mars one is getting old, and my ESP says he's going to be needing it a lot during the future...

Oh my gosh, sooooo cute. And his voice is so nice. And I do love how Christy is hovering nearby like a protective mother - and I'm sure Proud Papa Damon (TM) is somewhere nearby too.

Although did anyone else notice that Christy knew the videographer was there long before Josh did :laugh:

Hm, maybe. I don't know, it's still...kind of sad. I need less sad Josh in my life!
 
I'm going to give in and drop in here.

I actually first saw Josh skate at a Stars on Ice show in Providence last year. However that was actually the first time I ever heard of him. I went to the meet and greet afterwards to meet the skaters who skated in the team event at the Olympics. I didn't meet him because it wasn't on my mind to meet him. Probably due to that I thought it would be inappropriate to do because I only have heard of him that day. And some might wonder why at this logic. Well it's cause I don't want to be "fake." I come also from being fans of singers and bands we do not like when people are fake fans.

But now since I have seen more skating from him (Via watching YouTube and nationals on NBC), I can say that I like his skating. And now if I'm ever in a situation where I can meet him, I will.

Glad that he learnt his Zayak lesson from the US Nationals. It is the best compromise between Zayaking and forfeiting a combo. It is also to blame for denying Japan of the 3rd spot.

What are you all thinking he should replace SL with? How about a James Bond number? (Inspired by his pose with Polina). I think he could pull it off and show off the suave side of him.

I'm imagining that it was because Josh was happily lost in his own playing that Christy held back briefly and did not immediately tip him off to the person recording video.
Not to read too much into Josh's reaction, but that he just laughed with surprise and did not get flustered seemed like another good example of his increased self-confidence.

Can't get over how beautiful his voice is. How his singing sounded on NBC at Nats was not a fluke.
BTW, I think this Instagram comment at the time of Nats might be from his music teacher?? -- the one whose text to Josh was his first knowledge that NBC had shown his singing?​

But in the Worlds video, Josh already had me at the the sushi shirt :laugh: -- before I heard a single note.

Agree that the Virtue/Moir Hallelujah exhibition was utterly gorgeous.

I like apgold's James Bond idea for a Josh program :). I like the music, and Josh already has the character down :yes:.

Agree with karne re the breaking of hearts ;). In fact, already a cropped version of the photo has shown up in a tweet from someone else, who apparently wanted to forget that he was in such a fun pose with Polina (who looked prettier than ever, BTW).

Not the perfect skate he wanted, but still a beautiful, emotional performance.

Looking forward to next season I hope he is healthy over the summer and is able to do a senior B for World Ranking points before the GP series starts. It could also be a good chance to get out any early season jitters that come with debuting a new program.

Music wise, he has the ability to interpret piano music beautifully, which cannot be said for most. That being said, it would be interesting to see him do something a bit different for him - something like Aranjuez or Samson and Delilah that's not just a classical piano piece, but also nothing crazy. I think both of these would suit his style and allow him to grow. I hope to see both his 4T and 4S next season!
 
Ooooooooh, yes, suave James Bond Josh could be fun :o:
